I’ve spent many nights staring at maps in games like Civilization and Paradox titles. Age of Conquest is a stripped-down version of that experience. It’s heavy on the spreadsheets and light on the spectacles. If you can get past the UI—which looks like it was designed by a civil servant—there’s a decent strategy engine underneath.

The AI can be surprisingly aggressive, which I appreciate. However, the diplomacy is a joke; it’s mostly just 'don't attack me until I’m ready to crush you.' It’s a solid choice for someone who wants to play a serious wargame on a phone without being insulted by cartoon graphics and gem-spending. It’s dry, it’s hard, and it’s unpolished, but it’s honest.
