Extremely fun, a few bugs, a few requests.
Wed Oct 23 2019 alphazenxThis game is very fun to play. Whenever I have a bit of free time, I always jump on this game. I especially like the ability to customize so many aspects of the gameplay. There are a few bugs that can get a little bit annoying. There are times where ‘ghost troops’ are displaying in a province . They’re ghost troops because they are not in any way manageable or movable. Another bug that I’ve noticed is that in rare occasions, the game freezes during troop movements and I’m forced to quit the app, consequently loosing all progress. Another bug that would be great if it was resolved would be the renaming of provinces, it tends to not save after exiting the game when renaming a province. Besides the few bugs, this game is great and overall very reliable. The bugs are not too common. I do have a bit of requests though, I wish this game had a way to allow background music to play during gameplay. Whenever I play my Apple Music and I open the game, the game automatically shuts the music off. Also the app needs a bit more optimization for the iPhone version, some menus and information tends to get cut off with the iPhone’s notch. Also, I really dislike how the display box appears after anything you touch, sometimes the display (info box) gets in the way and it makes it hard to scroll/navigate trough the menus during gameplay. I strongly recommend this game if you like countries and war/conquering other countries’ armies.
Very Fun, but a few issues
Wed May 27 2020 WillardP05First, the game is one of my favorite strategy war games. I have spent many hours on this game. You have huge maps to play on that are very realistic. You can make your own scenarios, countries, leaders, etc. You have many a few options as far as diplomacy goes, but not as extensive as it could be. The win/lose thing with warfare is mostly numbers based, if you have a bigger army, you win, so it is not as strategic as it could be.
I have found that the game does not run well at all on normal iPads. I had a ipad 6 for a while, and that was the device I started playing this game on. It would crash frequently, especially if you have a very large country. I have since bought an IPad Pro, and the game runs so much better on it. I don’t think that it has crashed once, and most of the loading bugs are fixed.
The bugs are annoying, but most of them aren’t game-hindering.
I have problems with the tutorial. The tutorial took me a very long time to figure it out, and then I didn’t really understand it. The ‘easy to learn’ aspect isn’t as easy as it sounds. It took me few games of trial and error to learn everything.
So in the end, it is a fun game and I think worth the money. If you would be upset with it crashing often, you need to only get it if you have a powerful device.
Extremely fun but needs more options
Sat Dec 05 2020 rubssabeyabimyfondoThis game is very fun to play but constantly throwing your men at the enemy can get very dull very fast there needs to be more options for ways to attack I’m talking making your own strategies to beat your enemy and there should be a option to make soldiers who specialize in particular tasks and soldiers like navy seals who are just amazing at every task at hand and special forces like the German gsg 9 who specialized in counterterrorism. There needs to be different kinds of units like for example having soldiers with things like tanks, armored vehicles, reconnaissance planes, air support if possible, naval support if possible just different units that can make all the difference in a battle just like real life. Also strategy and tactics should be a optimized in this game considering it focuses on taking over the world for example the player should have the ability to make their own tactics along with default options for “younger” players, it would be amazing to have something like this so we can make groundbreaking movements like blitzkrieg when the Germans used refuges to slow down the allies and encircle the soldiers and destroyed most of the france’s best soldiers just like that and it would make the game more realistic how some battles can be won even without strength in numbers but by training, experience, and command.
Great Game... more tech?
Tue May 05 2020 whitebread5150First of all I wanted to say I love everything about this game. Freedom in strategy, creating borders, internal building of countries, and all the other cool things that went into making this game more entertaining and diverse in options are all really amazing. However, I do think that can be taken a step further. This is how. The game is pretty structured around military action, right? Well, I think it would be pretty cool if you could elaborate more on the technology that was available during the era you’re in. For example, Machine Guns, Early Tanks (landships, mark IV, Renault tanks... etc), Dreadnoughts, and Artlilerry Barrages for the Age of Imperialism. Atomic Bombs, New Tank innovations such as Panzers, and others for the age of conflict. Or even as we progress into Cold War/Contemporary events we see advancements in nuclear technology, stealth bombers, and things along those lines. I could go on and on, but my point is, is that there should be technology being made available to the players. The player should be a little bit more immersed in the era they’re in. Also, I think it would be cool if there were more detailed diplomatic decisions you had to make wether it was between other nations or even within your own country. Anyway, just my thoughts. As I said before... love the game, keep up the good work
This game is pretty awesome
Tue Feb 20 2024 fortnit help helpHi, I’ve been playing this game for about a year or two now, and it’s really cool. I just wanted to leave the review because I heard about the 3rd edition of this game coming out soon and was pretty excited. I do have a few requests for it, if you can listen: first, I wish the game didn’t crash & not save. Occasionally it crashes and I lose all my stuff that wasn’t saved. Next, I wish there was some type of naval and air combat, rather than the navel just being more numbers-based. Also, I wish that the terrain had more effects on battles; ex. when you invade a mountainous terrain province, there should be a high/decently high attack penalty and the defenders should get a defensive bonus. Also, on land, I think there should be some more versitile troops, such as tanks, mountaineer divisions, or marines, and each would have a small added bonus in their terrain. Also, some troops should be able to move 2x in one turn, like if you moving tanks across field provinces. Also, I wish there were generals that could give their troops small bonuses too. Last thing, I wish there were a few more historical senarios, like WWI, or and maybe a few other significant historical instances/times. Thank you so much for reading this if you do, and keep up the amazing work!
Could be a great game however a major bug ruins it.
Mon Apr 18 2022 Richard HuckabeeI recently downloaded Age of History II, because it seemed like an interesting game that I thought would be good for passing the time. Upon downloading it I got exactly what I had hoped for, a cool game with many features to learn. I immediately sat about trying to learn the features of the game, which I found quite enjoyable and once you get them down it is a blast. While working on this though I was invaded by a neighboring country, which was fine they were significantly weaker than me and no match. I figured I‘d just send my armies to stop them. I was greatly mistaken however because the moment they invaded my land the game completely froze up for me. All I could do was click Next Turn over and over and watch as this weak nation slowly ate up mine, all because I was unable to make any moves, or gain an income. I am not sure if this is a bug or a feature or what it is. All I know is I clicked just about ever button on my screen trying to figure out how to get back control over my country but nothing worked. That I tried, maybe I just didn‘t see what I was supposed to press to get back control, but it seems that all that works to bypass this is just saving the game ever single turn and then restarting the game to get back in. If this bug, or whatever it is, was not there this review certainly would have been five stars.
Could be the best
Wed Jun 17 2020 Jpo192This is an amazing strategy game and it could be the best. I feel like if the developer offered updates and bug fixes more regularly than it is doing now this would be the best mobile game. Some complaints; the game is not optimized for 2017-present iPhones, I can’t see somethings on the screen as they are cut off, ghost troops: troops that are shown that they are there but when clicked upon it says no units, when I’m at war and my allies are helping it gets annoying when the enemy only has 100 troops and can destroy my ally who has 4000 troops, the game crashes fairly regularly for me but that’s mostly because I have big game loads. Now these are things I want to come to the game; I want the game optimized to present iPhones, the ability to annex a country after war, to control all my troops at once and move them to the same location instead of clicking on every singe troop and moving them, and I wish there was different types of troops for the different type periods like tanks, archers, ships, planes. These game is similar to hearts of iron 4 mechanics wise but the game has a long way to go to get to the level the way this developer is bringing new fixes and updates to this game.
Great game, some issues though.
Sat May 09 2020 (-Nothing-)I’ve played this game for quite a while now and must say it’s one of if not my most favorite to play on my phone. You’re given freedom to do most of whatever you want and there’s no paywalls once you buy the game. Though, I have encountered some issues, mostly with stability. Occasionally, I’ll just end up crashing the game, not even aware of how, though this is pretty rare. My biggest issue is stability in big, old saves. For example I have a save where I reestablished Rome as the Byzantines. It’s about 250 years from my start year and I dominate the world in most metrics. But the save has become very fickle. In order to get it to work, I must load into a smaller save (like my Kingdom of Ireland one), exit that one, and then enter the Rome save. If I don’t do this, upon loading the save, I will be returned to the title screen or be unable to move to the next turn. Also, crashes are more frequent with the save. I’m not sure what causes it for sure but it’s only ever occurred in that big game. Also, perhaps more in depth tech could be added in like maybe a tech tree so battles aren’t always just based on numbers or whether there’s a fort in the province.
Age of Civilizations 2:
Tue Oct 29 2019 Cool0606I was first shown Age of Civilizations around 4-5 years ago immediately falling in love. Unfortunately I had a iPhone so I would just play on my friends phone until I bought it through google and downloaded a emulator on my PC to play it. I couldn’t wait for Age of Civilizations 2 to come out I waited years from first hearing about the announcements and following his Twitter everyday looking for any screenshots he would show us. I found the game finally a few days ago and bought it immediately I was amazed at how much work he put into the second game, I can guarantee you this game wasn’t rushed. Some of the controls atleast for the IPhone 10 are a bit wonky and could be better. But overall it’s a great game, a lot more diplomacy then the first game allowing for unions and a world power through diplomatic means. I’m still in my first play through as Germany in WW 2 and my only complaint is peace deals atleast with the AI in them. Trying to carve up France was difficult with Italy as Italy although getting involved in the war wanted land far north of Italy in territory I controlled. I highly recommend this game to anyone and especially to people who like strategy games, and who played games like HOI 3-4.
I’m a huge fan of your work
Fri Apr 03 2020 mattgwatzI’ve played age of civilization1 and am a huge fan of both games. I think that adding heavier units like Calvary or tanks ( depending on the century/ technology level) would add a whole other dynamic to a vastly superior game. Age of civ2 is already more ambitious than other games in the risk esq genre due to the more adjustable tax and ideology windows. Creating custom maps is probably what exited me the most about this new installment of a game that had my attention from the start. When I play I always persist to push for tech faster than other nations to gain the efficiency edge on them, but I think rewarding the player with more options like Calvary, tanks or ranged weapons. Archers in medieval or ancient eras, siege weapons, planes and artillery with time and tech would add spice and flavor. Wars in ww2 scenarios would be less about throwing numbers and more about destroying enemy tanks with defensive artillery and bombing enemy industry. I love the game but I think these changes would widen the gap between these masterpieces and games not much more different than risk.
