Finding a truly playable game for the Apple Watch is harder than it looks, but Block Blast! manages to pull it off. The developers clearly understood the limitations of the hardware—the blocks are large enough to be easily manipulated by a finger without feeling like you need a stylus, and the haptic feedback when you clear a line is a nice touch. It’s surprisingly addictive for such a small-scale game.

The 'Blast' mechanics are just as satisfying here as they are on the phone. While you don't get the same variety of modes or 'Adventure' levels, the core endless mode is perfect for a wearable. My only real complaint is that it can drain the watch battery a bit faster than your average utility app, so maybe don't play for an hour straight if you're away from a charger. For those little moments of boredom during the day, this is a top-tier watch app that turns your wrist into a mini arcade.

The fundamental problem with 'games for watch' is that nobody actually wants to play them for more than thirty seconds. Block Blast proves why. The screen is too small, the controls are cramped, and the gameplay is a bargain-bin version of Tetris. Trying to fit meaningful puzzle logic onto a watch face is a fool's errand. It’s a novelty that wears off the moment your arm starts to ache from holding it up. The 'blast' mechanics are basic and the visual feedback is minimal. It feels like a technical exercise—'can we do this?'—rather than a design exercise—'should we do this?'. It’s an ergonomic nightmare that adds nothing to the genre. If you're so bored that you're playing this on your watch, you should probably just look at a wall instead.
