Cop Cards: California Ape is a weird genre mashup that actually works. Mixing high-speed police chases with deck-building strategy sounds chaotic, but it forces you to think about racing in a totally different way. Instead of just worrying about your line into a corner, you’re worrying about whether you have a 'Spike Strip' card in hand to stop the cruiser riding your bumper. The vibrant, sun-drenched California art style gives it a 'GTA-lite' feel that is very appealing.

The strategic depth comes from building a deck that balances offensive maneuvers with defensive speed boosts. My main issue was the RNG—sometimes you just don't draw the 'Turbo' card when you desperately need to clear a bridge, which can lead to a frustrating end to a long run. However, as an experimental indie title, it was incredibly creative and fun to play.
