TLDR: You will reach an end point with no more added content. While you can continue to “play” by fulfilling orders, it achieves nothing but coins, and becomes boring. Bugs only add to the disappointment. I absolutely love this game tbh. It’s simple and doesn’t require $$$ to play - I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT SPENDING $$$ ON THIS GAME. The graphics are cute, the mechanisms are clear and smart. I completed all of the available content and continued fulfilling orders to pass my time, but unfortunately the bugs have started to appear. I made it all the way to level 23 before I ran into issues… it is clear the developers have given up on this app and it saddens me greatly! ): Once you try to level up to 24, it breaks and takes you all the way back to level 3, showing you halfway to 4. No matter how many stars you match and redeem, you are permanently stuck here. While this doesn’t affect MUCH, it does decrease the amount of chests you can earn over time, and that is frustrating. Chests guarantee you coins, gems, and stars - less chests, less opportunity for growth. I have reached out to support with no response. Judging from the last update being over 10 months ago, I am pretty certain this is a dead game. Should they continue to update and add new content, I will be in the front of the line to continue!
This is a really good game, I really like the art style and the gameplay is actually pretty good. It’s a solid foundation for a really fun mobile game, but that’s what it is, a foundation. The game itself is noticeably unfinished. There are invisible walls in awkward places and holes in those boundaries in even stranger places. Leveling up doesn’t really do anything besides give you a few rewards, which is fine but it would be better if it increased your maximum stamina. The islands are interesting and give you something new to explore, but you can’t go back to old ones which it really seems like you should be. At the very least adding a gem system of them would be nice, just to unlock them again or something. Some of the buildings just, don’t do anything? Like they don’t come with a villager and they don’t produce anything, which just looks off. At the very least, having a npc for each house, even if they don’t produce anything, would look less out of place. My biggest issue with this is the big house you build later on that says it’s a museum. One, you only would know that if you looked at the quest title. And two, it’s non functional, so you can’t even go inside it or donate anything to the, once again, npc-less building. It’s a good start to a game, that slowly devolves over time where the game just doesn’t seem to go anywhere. Essentially, it’s in desperate need of an update to it’s material.
The art style is adorable and the gameplay is calming, bite-sized merging. The type of thing you pull out whilst eating breakfast or waiting in a line. I would like to see more dialogue from the NPCs or a way to upgrade the stamina bar, but I don’t have any issue with the game as it is. (Though I would recommend turning the music off and just listening to the birds chirping, as the music is repetitive.) There are a lot of weird elements that make it clear the game is somewhat unfinished. In one or two places there is a tiny invisible barrier that I assume should be fence, as well as a few fences you can just walk through. The layout of the town flows well despite this. Also, your character cannot walk on bridges, but rather, they walk in the water beside them. In fact, the character clips ever so slightly through most objects in the game. This is more funny to me than it is annoying. I recently encountered and area where the iron and clay deposit clones itself a bit to the north-east after every level of tower completion! Obviously this should be fixed, but like the few bugs I’ve seen, it’s just a completely harmless aesthetic thing. All in all I’ve completed nearly every task in the game and I’ve never considered deleting it. It’s a fun game. Incredibly charming.
This is a fantastic game. The collection, crafting, exploration, merging, and adorable art style keep me captivated! The game feels a little unfinished, but I don’t want that to discourage anyone from downloading this masterpiece. I do have some suggestions to help the game feel less of a grind when progressing. I would love leveling up to increase the amount of energy storage, or even have increasing this be a paid option. It would also be great to see resources have the ability to level up, whether this means they hold more items, take less time to recharge, or produce higher level resources. This could take coins or items to upgrade. The biggest frustration I have is how I will grind for hours to complete one task, only for it to have 1xp as a reward and do nothing else. The “help x villager” tasks seem especially pointless as they don’t even produce any special dialogue or decor. I feel like these may be a placeholder the devs put in for the future…? It would also be cool if we could visit past islands. Perhaps we could craft “boat tickets” that allow us to revisit? Overall I don’t want my suggestions to distract from this adorable game that I have been addicted to for weeks! I am excited to see what the devs do with the future of this game and others.
I really enjoyed playing this game when it first came out, even though it was unfinished. When they did a complete reset of story progress, I was a little miffed, but decided to play through it again just to see if it had improved (which, btw, was about a month long endeavor if you aren’t paying for energy). It was somehow less complete than before, but with new art in some area (I do miss the tree bakery). NOW the game feels even more incomplete and broken than it ever did before. The map only has one island on it, the quest I was in the middle of clearing doesn’t show in the quest book, the house decorating they added was reset again, and most frustratingly they have added secondary (maybe even more???) items that drop from tool and cleaning nodes, which are ALSO required for the new quests, but have a ridiculously low drop rate so you end up with an entire inventory full of sponges and just 2 incense (or whatever they’re calling it) when you need a max level one. Like I said, I really enjoyed this game originally, but every time I see an update and check in to see how it’s going, it feels worse and worse. I still like the art (though unhappy with some of the art updates that have been made), and I do like the added house decoration mode (even if it’s a bit bare bones), but those are the only redeeming qualities right now.
I like this game a lot, I think it brings a lot of really cool new mechanics to the genre and the art is super adorable. I’m having a lot of fun with it so far. I have one major-ish complaint, which is that I wish the game board was bigger. Not in the sense of more grid space, but like visually larger on the screen. Compared to some of my other favorites within this style of game, the board is super small, which makes the cute icon art harder to see, and increases my chance of misclicks. It probably sounds picky but I really like to be able to see the little icons really clearly. Merge Master is my current favorite and their board art is really nice and big. I don’t know how easy or difficult of a thing this would be to change, but I hope it’s possible because otherwise this game would be my new favorite, but as it is, it isn’t quite there. The other things are less big; I’d like to be able to return to islands I’ve explored at least once (I didn’t gather everything before completing the shrine!); I get a little annoyed at the guiding cursor finger that pops up all the time; and I wish I could see how much time was left exactly until resources refreshed.
I got this app about a month ago and just effectively beat it a few minutes ago. I know this because I don’t have any more tasks I have to complete. It seems odd to me how unfinished this game is. For example, there are non-explorable parts of the island that LOOK like they should be explorable, if you could unlock them. There are also some graphics that seem unfinished. I feel like the game isn’t finished, too, because I have some mergable items that I haven’t even unlocked yet, despite beating the game. A few other things. It’s odd that the NPCs only matter for one conversation each, then they just stand there the rest of the time. Also, once you unlock islands, you can’t go back to them to get resources after you finish the island. This was really fun while it lasted though! It was cute and aesthetic and easy enough. The hardest part was figuring out that you need to keep the butterfly net in your pack in order to catch butterflies (there is a lack of directions in the game).
First off, I love this game. The balance between managing your merge board and storage and resources is wonderful. The characters and art design are cute and endearing. The game explains itself rather well, with a few minor exceptions. I was rather disappointed I could not revisit islands once I had completed their shrines; they are a great source of resources while open, but that ends once the shrine is closed. Also I have progressed far enough to complete all shrines, and the button in settings to reset the shrines does nothing (not even a click sound to register I’m doing it correctly) I have two maps on my merge board, and nowhere to use them. I saw on other reviews that a timer/countdown on resource resets would be a great addition, as well as the ability to watch ads to reset resources or add energy. Thank you for the game, I’ve enjoyed it thoroughly the last two months, and want to keep playing, if these minor things can be added/fixed.
Edit: I finally caved and uninstalled and reinstalled the app to see if the issue will be resolved that way, but honestly having to start over after being so far in is hard. Really love this game but so devastated about this issue. So I love this game, and all I want is to keep playing it. Unfortunately with the newest update I’ve got a bug - I keep showing up on a purple patch by Walton the walrus on the new Whispering Waves island and can’t leave it. If I close the app and reopen it I’m back on the main island at the dock, and when I try to go to the Whispering Waves island again, for some reason I’m on the purple patch, and not at the dock. Trying to walk out of the edges of it is like trying to walk into an locked area, so I’m just stuck on the patch. I’m sad because I love this game - I spend a lot of time on it. Hopefully there is an update soon to fix this so I can get back to cleaning the island!
I’ve been looking this style of game for a while. With an extra sparkle on top being the charming, very cute art style. It’s very fun and calming. I really enjoy that there is bigger aspect of collecting materials, exploring, and building for this style of game. As for things I think can improve. I wish we could return to shrines and maybe even make there islands have something built. I also like the idea that if we used up all the resources up in the town, we could travel for more. (Just a personal opinion that does really matter at all. But I’m not the biggest time of the energy thing and the time break you have to wait. I could play this for hours if it wasn’t for that. I know that it’s just how app games make money from those who are impulsive and impatient. But still. I’d love to support this app in other ways)
A long time ago lived this little guy M. Critter. M. Critter was living peacefully, until it started to rain and his world started to flood.
