FFIV is widely considered the first game in the series to prioritize a deep, character-driven narrative, and the 3D Remake enhances that emotion tenfold. The voice acting adds a layer of weight to the tragedy of Baron and Cecil’s journey that the sprites just couldn't quite reach.

Gameplay-wise, it's quite a bit tougher than the original, which I personally enjoy. You actually have to think about your moves rather than just mashing 'Attack.' The Augment system adds great replayability, as your party's build can vary wildly between playthroughs. It’s the definitive way to experience one of the best stories in gaming history.

Dinsun here. I prefer the 2D sprites personally, but the 3D Remake of IV is the only way to play if you actually want a challenge. The 'Augment' system adds a layer of depth the original lacked, though it’s nearly impossible to optimize without a guide. The voice acting is decent, but the low-poly models look a bit muddy on modern Retina displays. It’s a respectable effort for a title that defined the dramatic JRPG.
