Fallen Hero: Rebirth is a staggering achievement in interactive fiction. Writing a 380,000-word novel is hard enough, but making every choice feel meaningful and every character path feel earned is a different beast entirely. Playing as a former hero turned villain is a trope, but here it is handled with incredible nuance. The exploration of trauma, identity, and the moral gray areas of 'superheroics' is some of the best writing I've seen in the genre.

The lack of graphics and sound isn't a drawback; it’s a feature. The prose is so descriptive and the pacing so tight that your imagination does all the heavy lifting. Customizing your villain's powers and armor feels personal, and the ability to juggle multiple identities adds a layer of tension that keeps you on the edge of your seat. It’s a dark, psychological masterpiece that fans of choice-based RPGs cannot afford to miss.

Dinsun Review

Dinsun here. I’m old enough to remember when 'games' were just green text on a black screen, so I have a soft spot for this. This is better than those. The writing is sharp, cynical, and deeply personal. It actually remembers the choices you make—not just 'Option A or B,' but how you feel about your past. It’s a slow burn, and if you can't be bothered to read, stay away. But for those who want a superhero story with actual consequences and adult themes, this is the gold standard.
