Good but potential to be awesome
Fri May 27 2022 DahbeLove the idea! Fun to play little miniature fighting game, brings back memories of me my brother and I playing Heroquest back in the day. Mechanics are very hit or miss, literally! If any of your heroes are in front of you or even close to you or the enemy, it will be a wasted turn because 100% of the time your attack will miss š©and most missed attacks in a round spell doom for you because the enemies health and attack points increase tremendously with each round while your heroes are dead or dying with measly stats. Because of battle mechanics I try to grab Wizards and Archers and combine them whenever possible, the only times Iāve ever beat this game is with leveled wizard or archer (archer attack points can be close to 100 by end of game if you get lucky). Different heroes or a better stat system would increase enjoyment of this game immensely! Also, Fairies are completely useless! Low health and no attack but you are still required to make them ā attackā essentially putting them in harms way so they uselessly die by turn 2 or 3??? Whatās the point, at least make them stationary or better yet, replace them with a totem or shrine that gives stat boosts to your Useful Heroes. Well, thatās my 2 cents. I still play this game once a month or two but really bummed itās not reaching its full potential!

Great value
Thu Dec 02 2021 benw52592I downloaded this game months ago. It is not a game I play everyday. It is not a game that rewards you for daily logins. It is not a game you have to relearn after taking time off. It is not a game where you can pay to win.
For all those reasons, it is unique in todayās world of micro transactions. While I appreciate the micro transaction model for what it provides, this game is a breath of fresh air. One single payment, that is not remotely expensive, and one gets access to a full game. Would I like there to be more content, yes. However, that is the only way in which the game is lacking.
I play this game almost on a daily basis and when I donāt have time to play, it doesnāt matter. Itās rewarding and satisfying each time I play. When I lose and do not complete a round, I find myself itching to play another. When I succeed at winning a round, Iām always satisfied. Sometimes I play more. Sometimes I do not. Either way, I walk away without thinking about the game. Without a doubt this the best strategy game on the App Store in terms of pure value. If you download it and only play it until your first win, youāve gotten your moneyās worth. You canāt compare this game to big features that litter the App Store today. This game is more akin to the original Super Monkey Ball. You can spend hours playing, or a small amount of time. Either way, youāre not disadvantaged.

Hard at first, read for help
Fri Mar 07 2025 DeadWriterThis is as close as it gets to the chess game from StarWars. The game mechanics involve collecting pawns and upgrading them with a skill when you get 3 of the same level. But one can also "cheat", as one can move the other pawns before the rounds start- turning a guaranteed loss to a possible win. One can also preemptively unbalance the opposite sides pawns on the edge or even get them to fall off before your turn- possibly turning certain defeat into a win. Often you are presented with choices of winning pawns with special attributes. Always choosing the "best" pawns can be a trap! In short, after a round or two, pick your combat style and stick with a small number of kinds of pawns. You may even need to kill off unwanted pawns to make space for new ones. The "healing" trophy is also a trap, and playing through a mini-boss is gives the best chance of a superior pawn in return. In the end, you will be challenged, but healing is worthless in the last battle, so focus on offense, on raising your stats during combat, freezing enemies (you can group them), and getting as many actions as you can in a round! I was frustrated at first, but these are a few of the things I learned to make the game more enjoyable, regardless of play style.

Not bad but feels like itās missing something
Fri May 07 2021 Black Pegasus playing a pianoThis game is serviceable with a LOT of potential, I like a lot of the ideas and concepts present, but a tutorial that helps you get a grasp of the gameplay would be nice, it feels a little short to me considering itās randomly generated, I would personally like to see some kind of infinite mode and some party events or something. I would recommend they add some more variety to the encounters, maybe a bigger board too, as the small field makes the archers and mages feel somewhat weak for their low health since enemies can get to them in two turns if they want to. My biggest wish is for a longer ācampaignā. A game that wants to hit that rougelike niche they seem to aim for benefits greatly from extending their campaign time, as play time then increases exponentially, a great example being FTL: medium length campaign, and yet it takes 100+ hours to actually see the credits roll. Buy it, give it a shot, itās not like itās overpriced for what it is, but I would DEFINITELY like to see them keep adding to the game. 3.8/5 a solid C+ in its current form.

Insanely Fun but Room For Growth

But then thatās it. Once youāve beat it once thereās nothing left. Thereās nothing to upgrade, thereās nothing new to find, thereās almost no reason to play other than to try to find something else in it.
This has a lot of potential. The reason why other rogue-likes (per an example: Risk Of Rain 2) is that thereās stuff to unlock, collect, and improve. Every run through isnāt the same. This game has that potential.
I really like where you were going with the āCollect 3 of the same pawn and it ranks upā and you should push that more. Like add an actual main menu with more options and everytime you collect a pawn in every runthrough, it adds a slight increase in power for future runs. Just something to grind so that it adds replay value.

Worth the $2
Wed Jun 16 2021 DonatedMite02I loved this game. Itās addictive with the graphics and gameplay and leaves me wanting more. Itās has really great potential to be an even better game. Simply making an infinite game mode that keeps track of how far you made it and a ājourneyā mode that plays like the base game except after beating the last boss you progress to fighting different enemies, a new boss, and harder difficulty like moving on into a new area. Doing this would definitely make the game that much better. The level up for your pawns is an awesome feature as well. It gives me a nice bit of rpg. I did run into a bug in the game while using the feature with some characters. The 30% chance to do area damage option just has a white square instead of an icon like the rest. Other then that I enjoyed playing the game and will still be playing it.

Looks like nothing else
Tue Apr 27 2021 GleckoIf youāre a Star Wars fan and remember that chess like game that Chewie always wins youāll get a sense for this presentation. The way the miniatures move and visuals are - to use an over used phrase - stunning. Mind you thatās for mobile or non-mobile. The visuals are worth the price of admission for me.
Sadly there are many other rough edges that need to be smoothed. The game itself is probably a 3/5 but I bumped a star because this guy is an indie and the game is awesome.

The balance seems off at times. Sometimes I run right to the end, other times Iām dead in 3 battles.
Iāve won 2 games and both froze on the score screen.
I canāt tell if there more levels after the big-demon-boss? Are there any permanent awards that we can carry into the next game? Can I start the game with a different character?
Some of the controls take a bit of getting used to with the 3D nature of the presentation. As others have mentioned in certain situations you will not be able to see the enemy or your pawns well because they are off the side of the screen.
I sincerely hope the dev is able to resolve some of these things because I feel like they have the workings of a masterpiece.
Hint: collect 3 of the same pawns and they combine for an upgraded pawn.

Lots of bugs
Thu Apr 22 2021 jcelticsI like the overall gameplay and premise. Itās fun choosing different paths and upgrading units. Once you make it all the way to the end the ācompletionā button or whatever itās called doesnāt appear so you have to close out the app to restart, and because of that it doesnāt save that you beat it. Also if you have two fairyās and make them hit each other you can creat an infinite loop, this is helpful because you can continue buffing ur units attack with the fairyās abilities. There were times where I got my units attacks well above 1000, this makes it super easy to beat the final boss. But it doesnāt feel rewarding because itās too easy. Once you beat the final boss you just go back to the beginning so it gets old quick. Iād like to have more things to do, I made it to the end 3 times and it becomes boring. Maybe there is more after you beat it but due to the completion button not showing up it never registered.
