Liberty City Stories on mobile is a fantastic trip down memory lane. Rockstar did a great job with the touch controls—they actually feel better here than in some of the other GTA ports. The shorter mission structure of LCS actually makes it the perfect GTA game for mobile devices, as you can knock out a mission or two during a commute.
The graphics have been touched up with better lighting and textures, making Liberty City look better than it ever did on the PSP. Seeing Toni Cipriani's rise through the Leone family is still a compelling story, and having the full open-world experience with radio stations and side-hustles in your pocket is incredible. It’s a must-have for any GTA fan.
Dinsun here. Liberty City Stories was never the best GTA, but it’s a respectable piece of history. This mobile port is actually better than the original PSP version in some technical aspects—better lighting and draw distance. The missions are shorter, which makes sense for a phone, though I still prefer a controller over touch screens. The story is a standard mob drama, nothing we haven't seen from Rockstar before.
My gripe is the age. The 'clunk' is real here. The physics feel a bit floaty compared to modern standards, and the shooting mechanics haven't aged gracefully. It’s a 'Wait for Sale' in my book unless you're a franchise completist. It’s a full GTA game in your pocket, which is impressive, but it doesn't reinvent the wheel. It just reminds us how much better GTA IV and V were.
Performance: Solid 30-60 FPS on modern devices; supports physical controllers.
Buy if: You want a full-scale open-world crime game on your phone.
Skip if: You can't stand old-school, rigid gameplay mechanics.
Available on: iPhone, iPad, iPod
