I’ve spent forty years playing games to escape chores, yet here I am, virtually picking up litter on a digital island. The premise of Garbage Collectors is noble enough, I suppose—cleaning up nature—but the execution is as exciting as watching a landfill settle. You move around, your little dwarf minions follow, and you slowly, painfully slowly, clear out piles of junk. It’s a simulation that leans too heavily on the 'idle' side of things without providing the depth needed to keep a seasoned gamer engaged for more than twenty minutes.
The progression loop is predictably shallow. You collect trash, get resources, and buy upgrades or skins. The 'Robo-cleaner' they added recently is a welcome bit of automation, but it only highlights how tedious the manual gameplay was to begin with. It’s another one of those modern mobile titles that tries to lure you in with a 'satisfying' loop, but once you peel back the bright colors and the eco-friendly theme, there’s very little meat on the bones. If you're looking for a deep management sim, this isn't it. It's a time-waster in the most literal sense.
