Groove Masters turns your phone into a surprisingly capable DJ booth. It’s less of a traditional 'game' and more of an interactive music maker that is incredibly easy to use. Even if you have zero musical background, the eccentric soundtracks and intuitive pad layout make it feel like you're creating something professional from the very first tap.

The library of soundtracks is surprisingly diverse, offering a lot of room for experimentation. It’s addictive in the way that making music often is—you start with a simple beat and suddenly you've spent thirty minutes layering sounds and tweaking rhythms.

While there are subscription options and ads in the free version, the core experience is solid and very responsive. It's a great tool for anyone who wants to mess around with DJ beats on the go without a steep learning curve. It successfully brings out the 'artist' in you in a fun, gamified way.

I’m not entirely sure why this is listed in the 'Games' section of the store. It’s a soundboard. A very pretty, functional soundboard, but a soundboard nonetheless. You tap buttons, loops play in sync, and you feel like a DJ for five minutes. There are no goals, no scoring system, and no real progression. It’s a tool for making music, not a game to be played.

My biggest gripe—and I’m a conservative guy with my money—is the subscription model. $11 a week for more loops? That’s highway robbery. You could buy a professional DAW for the price of a few months of this. If you just want to mess around with some beats, the free version is fine, but there are better actual games that use rhythm mechanics more effectively. This is for people who want to look like they’re doing something cool on their phone, but don't actually want to learn to play an instrument.
