Gyromaniac in IOS

Tunnel race using real motion!

Gyromaniac is a clever, tilt-based puzzle game that feels like a modern evolution of the classic 'labyrinth' toys. The use of the gyroscope is incredibly precise; there’s no input lag, which is essential for a game where a fraction of a degree determines whether you safely navigate a corner or fall into the abyss.

The level design is the real star here. It starts simple but quickly introduces gravity wells, shifting platforms, and narrow bridges that require steady hands and nerves of steel. The minimalist neon aesthetic is easy on the eyes and helps you focus on the physics. It’s a great example of a game that does one thing—tilt-based navigation—and does it exceptionally well.

Dinsun Review

I’ll give the developers credit: they tried something different. Using the gyroscope to this extent is ambitious, but ambition doesn't always equal fun. Standing in my living room spinning like a top just to navigate a digital colon is... a choice. The 'Perspectiverse Engine' is interesting tech, but the gameplay is just a glorified infinite runner with motion controls that feel imprecise half the time. It’s a novelty that wears off the second you almost knock over a lamp. The visual theme is 'anatomy-inspired,' which mostly just means everything looks a bit moist and pink. It’s weird for the sake of being weird, and while it’s a decent tech demo, it’s not a game I’d ever want to play for more than five minutes at a time.

  • Stable performance
  • Control scheme is physically exhausting
  • Repetitive 'tunnel' loop
  • Visual style is polarizing (and a bit gross)

    --- THE CONCEPT ---

STAND UP, look up and down, look around, AND SPIN (IN REAL LIFE!) to swiftly navigate through a series of disgustingly-real, endlessly-winding, anatomy-inspired tracts.

Thanks to our breakthrough "Perspectiverse Engine", you can use your iOS device like a movable window into a virtual three-dimensional world that coincides with the real world around you.

Though Gyromaniac runs on devices that can fit in your pocket, it's more akin to a motion-controlled home gaming experience, like the Wii or Kinect. This is by no means a casual mobile game.

    --- FEATURES ---

    - A new style of visceral, immersive motion-based controls intuitive even for non-gamers, but whose mastery will challenge the most sophisticated players.

    - "Touchless" gameplay: Gyromaniac can be controlled completely through your movements, without ever having to touch the screen.

    - Four Time Trial levels: Intestinal Fortitude, Colonoscapade, Capillary Action, and Fallopian Rhapsody, with more to come.

    - Multiplayer races in real-time spanning multiple devices over Bluetooth

    - Each time you play a level, the terrain generated will be random and unique, allowing for infinite replayability.

    - Stereoscopic 3D mode with Red/Cyan 3D glasses.

    - Uses no third-party engines or code, but powered by the homegrown Perspectiverse Engine.
