Dinsun Review
I have a lot of respect for the Harvest Moon legacy, but Seeds of Memories feels like a bit of a step backward. The core loop—the planting, the watering, the befriending—is still functional and addictive in that zen-like way that only farming sims can be. However, the visuals are a massive letdown. It looks like a cheap Flash game from 2010. The character models are stiff and the environments are flat. It’s a shame because the underlying systems are quite robust; there’s a lot to do, from mining to finding a spouse.
From a conservative gamer’s standpoint, I appreciate that it’s a premium title with no microtransactions. You buy the game, and you get the whole game. That’s rare on mobile these days. But it’s hard to ignore the lack of polish. The controls can be finicky on smaller screens, and the dialogue is often repetitive. It captures the 'spirit' of the series, but it feels like it was made on a shoestring budget. If you can get past the visuals, there’s a decent game here, but it’s hard not to compare it to Stardew Valley, which does everything here ten times better.
