I’ll be honest: I usually hate 'cozy' games. They often feel like they're avoiding being games. But HYKE actually has some meat on its bones. The pixel art is undeniably gorgeous—some of the best I’ve seen on a mobile device. It reminds me of the 16-bit era but with modern lighting. The combat is okay, a bit 'floaty' and repetitive after a few hours, but swapping between the seven witches keeps it from getting too stale immediately.
I found the 'camp life' features surprisingly tolerable, though decorating a campsite still feels like a waste of time to me. The music is great—not that loud, obnoxious stuff you usually hear. It’s a bit unpolished in the towns, which feel empty, and there are some cheap damage spikes in the later levels, but for a modern mobile title, it actually feels like someone put care into it. It’s a bit corny at times, but I can respect the craftsmanship here. I'd wait for a sale if you're on the fence, but it's worth a look for the art alone.
