Heartopia is clearly aiming for that Animal Crossing or Palia magic. It’s a very 'cozy' experience, filled with soft colors and low-stakes activities. While it’s charming for a while, the lack of real challenge or complex systems makes it feel like a very elaborate dollhouse. The social aspects are front and center, but the actual 'game' part—the gardening, the crafting—is very simplistic. It’s a great place to hang out if you like that sort of thing, but as a gamer who values mechanical rigor and innovation, I find it a bit too shallow. It’s a polished social platform, but as a simulation game, it plays it very safe.
