★★★★★ Fun game but a few errors
Fri Sep 12 2025 AriaKanuHey there! I wanted to leave a review really quick and ask for a small change.
I really enjoy this app, frankly can’t remember why I initially downloaded it but I’ve played it almost every day since. Only a few months and I’m on level 1850 or something, so I play pretty frequently. It’s entertaining, colorful, and challenges me more than most games I’ve ever had!
To be noted specifically, the ads are there if you don’t pay for the subscription, but they’re not too much of a pain, which is hard to find with a game these days.
Unfortunately, I do get a notification from the app in the middle of play that says “ You have no piece that can be removed!” In these instances I have many remaining moves left and in fact there are moves I can make that will remove a piece or allow me to, such as using a move to eliminate a “falling out” piece. It’s quite frustrating when I can complete the level, per the game “rules”.
If this glitch could be fixed I would be thrilled!
★★★★★ Dishonest & Deceptive
Tue Feb 25 2025 El paso croneI was really enjoying this game. It’s challenging enough to be interesting, but not something that I have to focus on. So I finally won one of the leagues and continued playing, and I noticed something very interesting. I reached the top slot and took a break to get something to drink and when I came back, there were suddenly two people ahead of me by 120 and 240 points exactly and there was someone behind me with my exact same score. As I continued to play, those three players stayed exactly in the same spots. The two in front were 120 and 240 points ahead and the one behind had my exact same score seconds after I earned it. So I stopped playing for several hours and went back and the same thing happened.
This is now happened three times where I get to the top of the list and I’m 2500 to 3500 points ahead of everybody else on the list and between one game and the next suddenly there’s two players ahead of me and one right behind me with my exact same score. No matter how much I play they stay exactly in the same positions and I’ve got third place.
At this point, it is blatantly obvious that these are not real players, but computer generated players that the system has created to prevent me from winning the league. If you guys are gonna lie to me about what’s going on in the game, the least you can do is not insult my intelligence at the same time!
★★★★★ Too many ads after I paid for ad blocker
Wed Feb 11 2026 SarahJesusnLilyMy name is Sarah Kuriakos, and I live in Southern California, USA. I downloaded Hexa Away from the App Store on January 12, 2026, and started playing it right away. I really like the game, but I hate all the ads, so I paid the $9.99 to get rid of the ads. A lot of good it did me, however, because I'm still having to watch ads after EVERY SINGLE TIME!! Every single level!! I paid good money for the ad blocker!!
As I said above, I really like this game. In fact, I love it. I have it on both my iPad, and my iPhone, and on my iPad I've reached level 522, and that's inspite of all the ads I've had to watch.
As far as the ads go, I'm not interested in ANY of the things being advertised. NONE of them. All I want to do is play the game. That's why I paid the $9.99 to get rid of them!!! And the fact that you've ignored people's complaints and reviews regarding ads speaks ill of your company. (I saw another review on the App Store from someone who had the exact same problem as I have, and he said he'd paid the $9.99 and still had to watch ads. He said the game was a waste of money because of that.) You obviously don't care about your customers. If someone pays money for an ad blocker for your game, then it's bad customer service if you still make him watch ads!!
★★★★★ Bugs with ads which are too long
Wed Aug 13 2025 AUGOLD325I paid for an ad-free experience, but in order to get anywhere in the game, you still have to watch ads for “rewards.” These ads can be 90 seconds long and often require you to close something and then wait another 13 seconds to close something else, then another 5 seconds for the X, which has to be hit precisely at the correct pixel or it will send you to a website outside the game to download something else. I dealt with that for long enough, but lately (even after a “bug fix” update), it doesn’t register that you watched the ad at all and prompts you to watch another ad for the reward you should have already earned.
In addition, some of the levels are unbeatable without either watching an ad or using coins/bombs/hammers. They often repeat levels and try to make it seem different by orienting the level upside down and/or flipping it. Unfortunately they don’t account for any of the spinners’ directions and often you waste extra moves because the spinner doesn’t change its direction to match the orientation of the level.
I won first place in the last 4 “legend leagues,” but have now deleted the game because I’m tired of all the issues.
★★★★★ Love/Hate Relationship!
Wed Sep 24 2025 Quesadilla135HexaAway has so much going for it! I enjoy figuring out my strategy, looking for the moves and trying to make no mistakes. Strange as it sounds, I love the sound effects and I particularly love the puzzles with the arrows that exit the hexes in directions sometimes all over the board. HOWEVER, the “love” side is balanced by my dislike of the over abundance of ads. Even if I should choose to pay the exorbitant “no ads” fee, I’m sure ads would still have to be endured if you needed more moves to win your game. Sometimes even if you play the game perfectly there aren’t enough moves given to win and you HAVE to watch a lengthy ad. Not fair in my opinion! But, I’m not quite to the point of deleting the app because of ads; but the day may come. 4 stars for when I’m just having fun “hexing away!”
UPDATE: The number of ads required to obtain sufficient moves to complete some upper level games got to be too much! Game deleted. They ruined a darn good game with all the ads.
★★★★★ Ads are off the charts!!
Sun May 04 2025 WanniMacI have been playing for a little over a week, and I love the game, but those ads are so time consuming. If you want to get double your award for ten minutes, watch these 2 minute ads, then get your 10 minutes. Catch here is, if you don’t finish the puzzle with the allotted moves and need more so you choose to watch an ad for 5 moves. That ad is always over 1.5 minutes long. So I have yet to get through 3 levels with that 10 minutes bonus! Just two days ago, I decided to purchase the No Ads. It doesn’t help at all. It took away ads and you choose if you want to use ads to get more rewards or bonuses, but what they have done is made those ads double what they were. I made it to level 670 in this very short time of playing, and I am saying goodbye. When you are stuck watching ads that are long enough to go to the bathroom, get a snack and check laundry all before the ads are over, that’s too much time to be wasting on a game. You have a good game here, get rid of those ads!!!
★★★★★ Ads stink!!!
Sat Dec 06 2025 Ads stink!!I love this game it is quite addictive but the ads are too frequent and too long. You have 3 boards on each ad that last 30, 10, 10 seconds sometimes lasting up to 2 minutes (sometimes for a game I already downloaded and play) before you get back to your board and there’s an ad after every board. I understand ads are where you get paid for providing the game free but even free tv only shows 3-5 minutes of ads for a 30 minute show. If I play 15 minutes on my break I end up watching 10 minutes of ads to 5 minutes of play time. I know within 10 seconds of an ad if I want to try a game but having to wait up to an entire minute I get frustrated and won’t try the new game on principle. I don’t know if you get paid for game play or just ads but I do know if I don’t play at all you get nothing! Please shorten the length of your ads and their frequency every 5-10 boards would be ideal but I can work with 3-5 boards thank you, NanaB
★★★★★ Not enough help
Thu Nov 06 2025 Polly5931I meant to get Hexa Run, a similar game. At least there are people to answer emails there. Hexa Away has no “support”. All the links lead to the developer’s page, and it’s all in Japanese. I give it 2 stars since I managed to play up to level 70. There are a lot of ads. The game freezes sometimes. The Bomb and Drill cost coins, the Hammer costs an ad. The drill removes a tile so the hex pieces can fall into it. The black tiles will become available once the number on them counts down to zero. The Bomb must go on an empty tile. Click the avatar to edit the avatar and frame color. Click the pencil to edit the name. On Mac there is no cursor in the name field, just click there and start typing. On Mac, the scrolling doesn’t work quite right in the Avatar and Frame choices. When you play an ad to get double rewards, time spent watching an ad counts towards your 10 minutes. But you can watch another and get another 10 minutes. Look closely and you can see that 10 coins becomes 20. I may keep playing, but I might get Hexa Run instead. — Texas, USA
