Hmmsim 2 is a surprisingly robust train simulator for mobile. It captures the technical feel of the Seoul subway system with impressive detail. The graphics are a significant step up from the first game, offering much smoother framerates and cleaner textures.
What I love most is the ability to import external routes. While the base game is great, the community content keeps it alive. The controls are intuitive—balancing the master controller to hit your stop markers perfectly is rewarding and genuinely relaxing. If you’re a railfan looking for a mobile sim that doesn't feel like a toy, this is it.
Look, I’ve seen plenty of mobile simulators that try to pass off arcade physics as 'realism,' but Hmmsim 2 is a different beast—and not always in a good way. Dinsun here, and I have to say, the technical foundation is solid. The recreation of the Seoul Subway lines is clean, and the BVE Add-On support is the only reason this game remains relevant. It’s a niche within a niche. You aren't here for flashy UI or 'fun' in the traditional sense; you’re here to stare at a speedometer and hit your marks at the platform. The addition of an outer view is a welcome bone thrown to the casuals, but it doesn't mask the fact that the base game is quite lean.
However, we need to talk about the 'game' part of this simulation. Once you’ve mastered the two included lines, you’re left with a file management simulator trying to get BVE routes to work on a mobile OS, which is a headache most won't want to deal with. The graphics are sharp for a 2015 release, but the world feels sterile—frozen in time. It lacks the 'living world' feel of modern PC counterparts. It’s a serious tool for serious people, but as a product, it feels more like a legacy port than a finished journey. It’s competent, yes, but it lacks the soul to earn a high recommendation from me.
Performance: Runs at a consistent frame rate even on legacy devices; loading times for BVE add-ons vary by file size.
Buy if: You are a die-hard train enthusiast who already owns a library of BVE train folders and wants to drive them on the go.
Skip if: You are looking for a game with missions, rewards, or an accessible learning curve.
