Metal Slug X ACA NEOGEO is a fantastic preservation of one of the greatest run-and-gun shooters ever made. As a rearranged version of Metal Slug 2, it fixes the original's slowdown issues while adding a ton of new weapons and secret paths. Playing this on a modern phone is surprisingly comfortable thanks to the virtual pad customization—you can move the buttons exactly where you want them to avoid blocking the action.

Hamster Corporation has also added some great 'modern' features like quick save/load and online rankings, which give you a reason to keep coming back and chasing high scores. The difficulty is just as punishing as it was in 1999, but the ability to adjust screen settings to mimic the old-school CRT look is a great touch for nostalgia hunters. It’s an arcade-perfect port that feels right at home on mobile.
