Magicmon World is a love letter to the monster-catching genre, but it manages to carve out its own identity with its stunning art style and base-building mechanics. The world feels surprisingly alive for a mobile title; seeing different creatures interact with the environment depending on the time of day adds a layer of immersion that is often missing from its competitors.

The combat is deeper than it looks at first glance. It’s not just about who has the higher level; the ability to customize your Magicmon's move set means you can build specific 'meta' teams for PvP. The social features are well-integrated, and the developers seem committed to regular content updates. It’s the kind of game you can get lost in for hours, and it’s easily one of the most polished RPGs currently available on the App Store.

If you're going to copy the biggest franchise in the world, at least try to do it well. Magicmon World is a soulless imitation. The monster designs are uninspired—most of them look like they were generated by a subpar AI or a bored teenager. The combat is slow and lacks tactical depth, and the 'open world' is really just a series of corridors. It’s also riddled with 'gacha' mechanics, forcing you to pay if you want a monster that isn't useless. I'm tired of seeing these low-effort clones cluttering the market. Go play the real thing.
