Malody V in IOS

Ultimate music game simulator

Our Site Score

84/100

Malody V is the ultimate sandbox for rhythm game fans. Rather than being tied to one specific playstyle, it serves as a multi-mode simulator that supports everything from classic vertical scrolling keys (Key mode) to ring-based tapping and Taiko-style play. Its greatest strength is its community-driven nature; it supports a wide variety of chart formats like osu! and bms, meaning there is an almost infinite library of content available if you know where to look.

The customization is unparalleled. You can skin almost every element of the UI, adjust offsets with surgical precision, and even use a built-in chart editor to create your own levels. While the learning curve for the editor and file management can be a bit steep for casual players, for the hardcore rhythm community, Malody V is a powerful, flexible tool that replaces half a dozen other apps. It’s a labor of love that feels professional and incredibly responsive.

Dinsun Review

Dinsun here. Malody V isn't really a game for the casual listener; it’s a tool for the rhythm game obsessive. It’s ugly as sin and the UI looks like a legacy Linux app, but it is technically brilliant. The sheer variety of modes—it’s basically an all-in-one simulator for Osu!, StepMania, and DJMax fans.

I respect it because it doesn't try to sell you 'song packs' for ten dollars. It relies on the community, which means the content is infinite if you know where to look. However, the barrier to entry is high. If you don't want to spend time configuring settings and hunting for charts, you'll be lost. It’s a conservative, no-frills platform that does exactly what it says on the tin. If you're over the age of 25, you might find the community-driven aspect a bit chaotic, but the mechanics are rock solid.
