Max & the Magic Marker Remastered is a fantastic revival of a physics-platformer that still feels innovative today. The core mechanic—using a magic marker to draw objects directly into the game world—is handled perfectly on touchscreens. Whether you're drawing a bridge to cross a gap or a heavy weight to trigger a lever, the physics feel consistent and logical. It turns every level into a creative problem-solving exercise where there isn't just one 'correct' solution.

The remaster brings crisp HD visuals to the table, making the sketchbook-come-to-life aesthetic really shine. With 58 levels across three worlds, there’s a significant amount of content. The challenge comes from the limited ink supply; you have to be efficient with your drawings and collect ink orbs to keep going. It’s a family-friendly game that manages to be both charming and genuinely brain-teasing for adults. A must-play for fans of puzzle-platformers like Scribblenauts or Crayon Physics.

Dinsun Review

Dinsun here. I remember the original 2010 release; it was a novel concept back when 'drawing' mechanics were the industry's new obsession. This 'Remastered' tag is doing a lot of heavy lifting for what essentially feels like a basic port with sharpened textures. The core loop of drawing shapes to bridge gaps or crush enemies still has that tactile satisfaction, but the physics can be finicky. I found myself fighting the marker’s ink limitations more than the actual level design, which feels a bit restrictive by today’s standards.

It’s a functional platformer, but it lacks the depth of modern contemporaries. The 'remaster' doesn't address the repetitive nature of the puzzles or the floaty character movement. It's a decent trip down memory lane for those who missed it on the Wii or early iOS, but don't expect it to reinvent the wheel. It’s a relic of a specific era of gaming—charming, yes, but ultimately thin.
