Merge Insect: Insect Fusion is a solid entry in the 'merge-and-battle' genre. Taking the familiar 2048-style mechanic and applying it to a swarm of creepy-crawlies adds a fun thematic layer. There’s something strangely compelling about merging two small beetles to create a giant, armored stag beetle. The battle phase after the merging is short but provides a nice payoff for your strategic placement.

The art style is clean and the insect designs are actually quite cool, leaning more into a 'fantasy' insect look than a realistic one. It’s a great game for casual strategy fans who enjoy the sense of progression that comes from seeing their units evolve. While it won't replace a deep RTS, the loop of merging and expanding your army is polished and satisfying for short play sessions.

I’ve reviewed a dozen versions of this exact game. You merge two ants to get a spider, two spiders to get a beetle, and so on. Then you press 'fight' and watch the AI do all the work. It’s barely a game. There is no strategy to the unit placement—it’s just a raw stat check. If your number is higher than the enemy's, you win. If not, you watch an ad to get more coins and merge more bugs.

It’s a cynical loop designed to waste your time. The insect models are low-quality, the animations are stiff, and the sound effects are generic. It’s meant for people who just want to keep their hands busy without having to think. As a veteran gamer, I find this trend of 'non-games' to be incredibly depressing.
