Pure genius.
Sun May 18 2025 TigerLily🌸🐝This is a murder mystery, seek and find puzzle game, and storyline where you get to make the key choices. No ads, diverse characters, intriguing storyline, challenging seek and find games, and puzzle mini games. This is an ice cream sundae of a game, with all the toppings. The hidden object puzzles are challenging, but don’t make you want to throw your phone at the wall, and aren’t boringly easy. The storyline is so well thought out and is very impacted by the choices you make and the relationships you develop with the characters. The characters and diverse in their personalities, speech, religion, culture, and demeanor, and friendships impact the storyline as well as bickering. Another Nordcurrent game, called Murder in the Alps, is incredible as well if you want the storyline without having to make impactful choices. An imaginative feature between these two games is the energy earning. Whenever you use 1000 energy on one app, you can click to receive 100 free energy on the other app. The energy slows you down and doesn’t let you finish it in two days, letting you have a longer experience in total. This is an example of a simply perfect game. I can’t wait to see what else Nordcurrent comes up with. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
A great game BUT!
Sat Dec 17 2022 Nade2000I’ve played a lot of games from the App Store and as we all know these in-app-games are set up for you to spend money to advance in it. Some games are actually fairly reasonable in their requirements of when they want you to spend money. This murder by choice is a really engaging and enjoyable game to play, until you “need” to buy energy to advance. Out of all the games I’ve played this game is about the greediest game to play. I’ve said it before and will say it again here. I don’t care how good a game is. If I have to spend a fortune to be able to play it I’ll just delete it. And this game falls right into that category. I earned 50 energy points to add to the 14 I had but don’t think I got 10 minutes of play time out of that much energy. So tell me, how much play time am I going to receive if I start dishing out money? I’m not going to find out. I gave this game two stars because it’s a great game. Otherwise it would’ve only gotten one star.
An update, since my first review I tried watching a video to obtain 10 energy points. After the video ended, the download indicator spun in circles endlessly, never receiving the 10 energy points. This game is worthless and not worth the thought of even open it. In all my years of playing cyber games I’ve never seen such greedy developers. I am noting this games maker (s) and will not download anything else from them. Do NOT waist your time with this game aside from how good it might be it is a total waist of time!
energy + rollback
Sun Oct 30 2022 Jayna KI really like that the game doesn’t force ads and lets people opt in or out of them. But I’ve had the same complaints about energy as everyone else. Together, I’ve tried to use the feature of watching an ad and getting 10 energy. I think that’s a great idea. But if I watch an ad, there’s an about 50% chance that a “discrepancy” will be found and “a rollback [will be] issued” which deletes the energy received from watching the ad. At that point the options are to purchase energy, rewatch the ad, or close the game. I sometimes rewatch the ad but this bug really kills the enjoyment of the game and discourages me from trying the ad exchange or a regular purchase in the future. When another nordcurrent game, Happy Clinic, has an issue fulfilling an ad-related reward, it puts up a notice that the reward will be delivered later, and then it actually is. This would help and be a good middle ground from where the game is now and actually improving the energy system. I will say that if I could complete more than two tasks per day, whether that be from decreased energy cost or increased regeneration, I really doubt i’d encounter this issue as much or be as frustrated by it. Thanks for enticing games, have a nice day
UPDATE: I left the game fully closed for more than 24 hours and came back to 160 energy. That was enough to finish the task I’d started before I set it down and do one other thing.
Great game, greedy developers
Tue Dec 20 2022 Glamgam111Love the game. The storyline, graphics, and characters are fantastic. HOWEVER, the energy bar is unfair to players. Every single action costs an unreasonably large amount of energy and there’s nothing we can do to gain energy except wait (1 point every 7 minutes). The energy bar depletes very quickly, and refills very slowly (I had 155 energy points when I started playing. It was gone in about 5 minutes!). Every object found, every choice made, every puzzle, costs energy, I even lost a lot of energy for leaving the game on a hidden objects scene! Some of these actions cost 10 energy points, but you earn 1 point every 7 minutes?? That means that 1 second of gameplay can take up to over an hour to earn—which is unheard of in any game. This is clearly a ploy to make money off of the players and entice them to spend money on energy. I’d like to give the developers 5 stars for developing an intriguing mystery game, but conning players into spend a ridiculous amount of money in order to play longer than 5 minutes at a time is greedy and tasteless.
SUGGESTION to developers: Either make actions cost less energy (ex. 1 object=1 energy), OR give us opportunities to gain energy for actions during gameplay.
SUGGESTION to other players: Look for other games (Choices is a good one) before spending a crap ton of money on this one. Remember that you have options.
Awesome Game | Horrible Energy Design
Mon Feb 13 2023 163792This game is awesome, and so much fun. I love the narration and the storyline, the searching, everything about it is awesome…. The reason for my three star review is that the energy “reserve” and amount of energy to do an action/task is horribly off balanced… aka tasks take a lot of energy, and the amount that saves up (after hours of waiting) is minimal in comparison… Day one of gameplay, I was able to play through multiple scenes, conversations, interactions, hidden object searches, etc… it was awesome, but also clearly how they get you hooked. After my initial starter energy was drained… I had to wait hours for the 175 energy bank to return, so that I could continue playing the game… the 175 energy lasted me about 3-5 minutes of gameplay before I was completely out of energy again… I think it took about 75 energy points just to have a conversation with someone and brew a tea… I’ve played a ton of games from the App Store, and think this game would be amongst my top few favorites, IF it wasn’t for this awful energy imbalance… If 2-3 simple actions/convos use ~75 energy points… the energy reserve should be much higher, like 500 energy instead… or there should be options to earn more energy faster. Love the game. Hate the energy…. As a side note… I’m always happy to spend money on great games, but it costs a minimum of $3 to buy more energy… 250 energy… which lasts 5-10 minutes, if you’re lucky…
Disappointed
Sun Sep 22 2024 kjb0410I debated writing this review but I am just so disappointed. I’d like to start by saying this game is really fun. I am enjoying the story so far and enjoy all the gameplay elements and tasks. However, the reason I am rating this so low is because of the energy issue. The first day of gameplay you get a lot of energy to play off of. Now the energy only regenerates fully every 24 hours. And it only goes up to 200 energy. When you have 200, it takes about 4 minutes or less of gameplay before you are out of energy and have to wait basically 24 hours to get full energy again. The only way to get more energy fast is….of course….to purchase more. If it wasn’t for the fact that energy regeneration takes SO long and actions cost so much, I would consider spending a teeny amount of money to continue playing. But every action you do is like 20+ energy (including the small conversations you have with other visitors at the island). It’s honestly wild. I’m sad that I only get 5 minutes to play this per day. The game itself is fun. And i’m going to keep playing for my 5 minutes per day. But that doesn’t mean I won’t be bitter about it every time. These developers really need to be realistic about how much the average person is willing to pay to keep playing a mobile app. I would much rather just pay $10 or so for the whole game if it means i get unlimited energy and playtime.
It’s 50-50.
Sat Apr 27 2024 nsndnfifndkakwowjebfbfbdjdbdjsI really love the game. Its graphics, story line, characters, puzzles, the true crime. But it’s really annoying to have to wait almost 4 hours to get just enough energy to play for 30 minutes. I hate that it takes so much energy to do the smallest things like talk to the characters or every time you over click in the wrong area it takes away 10-15 energy. And sure 2.99 for 200 something energy isn’t bad but I’d find myself buying energy A LOT. I like how at first it gives you 2000 energy but after that ran out I feel like I’d have to wait days just to get back to that amount. I really love the game and find myself addicted to it but it gets frustrating where I’ll be gone for a LONG time and only have 70 energy. And for it to run out after 2-3 tasks/talking sessions. Also I feel like you should make a choice to where we can get out of the talking, so we can go find items, and do others achievements for energy. Even when I close and open the game it automatically puts me into talking. I suggest fixing the energy thing, making things cheaper, and not taking away energy when getting something wrong in the searching puzzles, or maybe just not as much energy. I don’t want to be spending most of my game time worrying if I have to buy energy or not.
This game is so well made and I wanted to love it but…
Thu Aug 29 2024 ld0002First off I want to say that the graphics, storyline, and gameplay are all a 10/10 for me. I love the story and I love the puzzles but the hints and energy are the reason why I won’t be continuing with this game. You start the game off with a certain amount of hints and you can get another hint for free by watching ads. This is nice until you realize you have to watch three ads in order to get one hint. If I spend more time watching ads then playing the game, I become disinterested in it. You get a lot of playtime when you first start but then you can barely continue on without paying for hints or energy. The energy replenishes over time but it’s too much time.
The one thing that lead me to writing this review is the fact that every single item you click on during the hidden object parts of the game uses energy…as does your responses in conversations. This is ridiculous. I understand wanting people to spend money on your game but this is not the way. I would have rather had this game be paid for and made a one time purchase to play through it all at my own pace rather than to have to pay for energy if I want to continue. It’s tiresome to watch ads. I appreciate the option but it would be different if my energy wasn’t being spent every time I clicked on an object. It’s just too much of a hassle.
It’s good, but one thing makes NO sense
Mon Sep 04 2023 Ismail😄😄😄Edit: the developers said the same thing as they did on my airplane chefs review. “go check out our facebook for giveaways and contests.” I will say it again, I simply want to be able to watch ads for energy past 200 energy. That’s it, be able to watch ads beyond the energy capacity like murder in the alps, or maybe make an in app purchase so you no longer use energy, kind of like buying the game. I would GLADLy buy that.
If you previously played Murder in the Alps, that game has a WAY lower energy balance rate. If you compare the two, you spend way kore energy doing things in this game. What IRKS me is why we can’t watch video ads ON TOP OF 200 ENERGY. We can in Murder in the Alps, im sitting at 1000 energy and i STILL can watch videos. As soon as i watch an ad that makes me reach 200 energy, im no longer able to watch ads to stack in Murder By Choice. I will NOT spend money on this game, as murder in the alps proved i can support the game by watching tons of ads. If there’s an option to take time out of my day to watch hundreds of ads a week, please take away the limit to ads in murder by choice. I feel like I play for 4 minutes, then boom I’m out of energy. I like to play more than that, so I have to watch 20 ads to refill, then again and again. I want to watch tons of ads to get a good stock and play at a minimum of 30 minutes! Also please please add chapter 2!
Greedy Developers Ruin This Game
Tue Aug 06 2024 _Hannah_I did the math after purchasing 3000 energy. At 200 energy every 24 hours, that’s 15 DAYS worth of energy. Do you know how far that got me in the game? Do you know how much game play it was? About a half hours worth, and no where near the end of the game, maybe 10% progression, and that feels generous. Meaning this game takes months to complete, even with purchases. I just did some more math. In the game you receive an envelope taped to your door. It cost 5 energy to pull off the piece of tape. There’s two pieces, so 5 more! Put the envelope on the table, that’s 20 energy. Open the envelope, that’s 20 energy. Read the letter, that’s 50 energy. 50!!!!!!!!!! The entire task that gets you 0.001% further in this game is 100 energy. That’s 50% of your 24 hour energy refill. The amount of people that would buy this game in full for $20 or even $35 is astounding, and it’s that same pool of people if not more that DNF because of how greedy the developers are. It could have been a great game, but how are any of us supposed to solve the mystery if we forget the details of the case because you can only play 5 minutes every 24 hours for 6 months? I’ve never seen such greedy game makers before and I can’t get over how much they truly don’t care about if the game is good nor what the user experience is. We’re breathing dollar signs to them. Despicable, sad, embarrassing, and distasteful.
