In my rigid taxonomy of digital entertainment, 'My Town: Preschool' does not qualify as a video game. It is a strictly unstructured digital dollhouse designed for very young children. There are no objectives, no challenges, no mechanics, and no fail states. You simply drag static 2D characters around various rooms and tap on objects to trigger brief, looping animations. As a critic assessing gameplay, there is literally nothing to dissect here. It is an empty sandbox.

I understand that unstructured play is theoretically valuable for early childhood development, but paying a premium for a limited digital version of a physical playset seems deeply flawed. Furthermore, the art style is incredibly cheap, resembling mid-2000s Flash animations. The interactions are stiff, and the lack of any audio-visual feedback to reward curiosity makes it a sterile environment. It may serve as a temporary distraction for a five-year-old, but from any critical design standpoint, it is entirely devoid of merit.
