Nova Drift on mobile is a revelation. It takes the deep, systemic complexity of a PC roguelike and translates it to touchscreens without losing an ounce of its soul. The 'one-stick' control scheme is genius—your ship automatically moves forward, and you simply guide its arc, making it feel more like steering a projectile than a car.
The sheer variety of builds is what makes this a 90+ score for me. One run you're a tiny stealth ship that explodes every time it cloaks; the next, you're a massive carrier with a dozen automated turrets. The visual feedback, especially the screen-shaking explosions and neon trails, is some of the best on the App Store. It is a must-play for anyone who likes shooters or theory-crafting.
Now this is more like it. Nova Drift is one of the few mobile ports that actually respects the player’s intelligence. The upgrade system is surprisingly deep—I spent hours just theory-crafting different builds. Do I want a screen-filling railgun or a swarm of interceptors? The controls take a minute to get used to because of the momentum-based movement, but once it clicks, it's incredibly rewarding. It doesn't rely on cheap gacha tricks or predatory stamina bars; it’s just a solid game. My only gripe is that the visual chaos can get a bit much in the late waves, making it hard to track your own ship. It's a bit too 'neon' for my old eyes at times, but I can't deny the quality here. This is how you do a mobile game.
