I'm usually skeptical of 'companion apps' for board games—usually, they're just glorified timers. But Outsmarted! actually makes the game better. It allows for live-streaming questions, which means the trivia stays current instead of being stuck with a deck of cards from 1994. The 'expert' guests are a bit cheesy, but they add a level of production value that makes family game night feel like a televised quiz show.
The UI is clean, and it handles remote play surprisingly well, allowing you to play with people in different houses. My only real complaint is that it’s useless without the physical board, and some of the question packs are priced a bit steeply. If you’re a trivia buff, this is probably the most modern way to play. It’s professional, it’s functional, and it works. I won't give it an 80 because it lacks the charm of a standalone video game, but as a tool, it's top-notch.
