Police Department Tycoon hits that sweet spot of 'management itch' that keeps you coming back for 'just five more minutes.' As a veteran of tycoon games, I was impressed by the balance between micro-managing individual officers and the macro-development of the station. Seeing your small precinct grow from a single desk to a high-tech crime-fighting hub is incredibly satisfying.

I'm tired of 'Tycoon' being used to describe games where you don't actually do anything. This isn't management; it’s an waiting-room simulator. You click a button to upgrade a desk so that a timer runs 2% faster. Where is the strategy? Where is the challenge?

It’s a Skinner box designed to make you watch ads for 'double income.' As a 40-year-old, I remember when tycoon games like SimCity or RollerCoaster Tycoon required a brain. This requires a finger and a lot of patience for mediocrity. Total waste of a cool theme.
