Samurai Shodown V on mobile is a fantastic preservation of SNK's weapon-based fighting legacy. As part of the ACA NEOGEO series, the emulation is pixel-perfect, capturing the heavy, deliberate pacing that makes this franchise unique. Unlike other fighters where you're constantly button-mashing, SSV is about the 'big hit'—one well-timed slash can take off a third of an opponent's health bar.

The touch controls are surprisingly responsive, though the game truly shines if you connect a Bluetooth controller. The addition of global leaderboards and a 'Caravan Mode' gives retro fans a reason to keep coming back. The art style remains timeless, with large, detailed sprites and atmospheric stages that evoke a grim, Edo-era Japan. It’s a challenging, high-stakes fighter that rewards patience over aggression.

Dinsun here. I played this in the arcades, and the NEOGEO original is a masterpiece of high-stakes, weapon-based combat. This port is technically perfect—it's exactly the game you remember. The sprites look great, and the 'Slash' and 'Bust' systems are still deep and rewarding.

But playing a precision fighter on a glass screen is a nightmare. Unless you’re connecting a Bluetooth controller, you’re going to struggle to pull off even basic specials reliably. The on-screen joystick is a joke. If you have the hardware to play it properly, it's a 90/100 game. As a standalone mobile app, it’s a struggle. It’s for enthusiasts only.
