Sideways Drift is the kind of game you pull out when you have three minutes to kill at a bus stop. It doesn't overcomplicate things—it’s just pure, unadulterated drifting. The physics feel surprisingly weighty for a mobile game; there’s a real sense of momentum when you swing the rear end of your car around a tight corner. The minimalist aesthetic is very 'Vaporwave' and suits the arcade vibe perfectly.
While the core loop is addictive, it is quite repetitive. The difficulty curve relies heavily on the speed increase and the randomness of the track generation. Unlocking new cars gives you something to aim for, as the different handling stats actually matter—some cars feel like they're on ice, while others are much stickier. It's a shame the game has been retired, as it was a solid example of 'less is more' in mobile racing design.
