Incredible game design
Fri Jun 06 2025 butterk_nifeThe full game costs about $9, but it’s a price point I would compare to something like Balatro or Plague Inc. You get more than what you pay for, and the demo is more than sufficient to figure out the game and decide whether or not to play more.
It’s a brilliantly designed game. The market for idle turn based rpg’s is absolutely over saturated, but the mechanics of this game make it completely unique. It’s simple enough to grasp quickly and instinctively, yet complex enough to stay entertaining and keep offering new synergies between mechanics and new strategies. That balance of simplicity and complexity is so rare, and so satisfying.
It can get a little repetitive, but what game doesn’t? Take a break, come back later, try a new strategy, and you’ll fall right back in. Try the demo, and if you like it, you won’t regret buying the full version.
Excellent but Unbalanced
Sat Jul 27 2024 (Jova27)This game has great mechanics. It has a good balance between rng & strategy. The more you learn about different abilities & synergies & how they work, the more you realize how the deep yet simple the game is.
The problem lies within the balancing between the heroes & enemies. A lot of the heroes don’t do enough damage imo & too many enemies have summoning capabilities which can almost guarantee an end to your run. Even with the perfect team & great items, you can get overwhelmed really quickly. I think this is such an issue because the little minions that bigger enemies spawn do so much damage. The skeletons have to be the worst ones as they do 4 damage which is A LOT in this game. I think enemies that are summoned should do 2 damage at best & I also believe that enemies shouldn’t be able to spawn new ones at all as there are too many in the game.
Besides the balancing issues, this game has a good amount of modes & heroes too keep the game fresh. I’d recommend buying the full game despite the balancing issues.
Only Mobile Game I’ve Ever Bought
Wed Jul 23 2025 Garogers8This game is seriously great. I got the free version and played it for a couple weeks and I was nowhere near getting bored of it. And since this game has no ads and no cheap gimmick, it was easy to keep playing because I hate games that are just ad farms. This game relies solely on the fact that you will enjoy the game enough to purchase the full game, and I do not regret spending the money to get more from these creators. Upon purchasing the give you more game modes and tons of unlockable items, enemies, and more modes. And they have a whole text base system to implement whatever mods you want in the creative mode, that go much more in depth than I thought possible with a mobile game. This game is what more mobile games should be like and it really is a rare gem among mobile games.
Daily play
Tue Apr 01 2025 XenellI have never come back to a game over and over this much since Solitaire. I know that makes me sound old, but that’s a thing I’d do every night before bed. I have so many other apps, things I’ve played a few times, maybe even a lot! Most of them lose their allure after getting too repetitive. Or maybe I don’t want to play an online match for 5 minutes or longer. Or maybe it’s hard to pick back up in the middle of where I left off. Not here. There are so many game modes, so many little tweaks you can apply, difficulty settings to try, but it’s all cleanly presented and easy to pick up and put down. And did you notice they don’t collect your data? If you have any interest in dice games or rouge likes, you will definitely enjoy this game.
Excellent Yahtzee Roguelike
Thu Mar 21 2024 AdjectiveAnimalDOBAn excellent roguelike that is worth the in-app purchase to upgrade. The game is strategic and can be quite challenging, if you’re looking for that.
There’s loads of depth to the synergies and classes. The items can feel a little out-of-balance, sometimes defining the run’s success and other times collecting dust in the inventory. But since it is a roguelike, that kind of variance is to be expected and even embraced.
The mobile implementation is one of the best I have played for this kind of game. It can be played portrait or landscape, which both feel good. Tap-to-hold and other UX are well done and if you ever make a mistake, you can just undo. Unlike some other mobile turned-based/boardgame-esque games, you’re never really fighting the controls and you aren’t put in a position where a mis-press can end your run.
Ultimately, it’s worth the free download just to check out. The tutorial in the 3.0 helps fill in the gaps and makes it’s easier to understand what’s going on. There’s a certain charm to this game and the brief text descriptions and chunky pixel art make it feel almost like a port of an old Gameboy game (except for the 3D dice).
Addicting but rigid character upgrades
Tue Jun 18 2024 riveropolisThis game is easy to pick up and hard to put down. The gameplay loop is insanely addicting and the items and pretty varied and interesting. That said, the character upgrades are sometimes downgrades in terms of stats and abilities and force you into a certain class.
For example, spellblade is an interesting mid-tier orange class that became even better with the 1-pip cantrip item, but could only be upgraded into an archer for the final upgrade. It’d be nice to have an option to either upgrade the stats of the current character OR choose a different class. A high level dagger-wielding rogue that throws daggers into the back row and specializes in poison would also be a nice option, as orange seems to only become archers. The wizard specializes in strengthening others, but what about AoR fireballs?
$8.99, works wonderfully on iPhone and iPad
Sat May 11 2024 MightyTPOne of the very best mobile games I’ve played. This is fantastic on the iPad as it feels like an actual tabletop game with great pixel graphics. Comes with amazing gameplay that can be remixed in some many’s ways which the developer has baked into the game. It’s almost an endless amount of creativity. I think the caps in the game is what’s so great such as having an max item level up of 50 and it spawns a “Glitch” pushing yourself to get even better at the game and truly understanding how the rolls and dice work, how items interact and even make chain events. How intricate can it become? It’s wonderful. I absolutely love it.
But some new modes would be nice within constraints.
Everything else is being amazing.
A Nearly Perfect RPG
Thu Dec 19 2024 StargazurSlice & Dice masterfully combines roguelike mechanics with RPG elements, creating a gaming experience that’s both easy to pick up and impossible to put down. Whether you’re squeezing in a quick game during a break or getting drawn into longer sessions, it’s the perfect balance of strategy and accessibility.
The mix of strategy and RNG is incredibly satisfying. The ability to undo moves within a turn allows you to experiment and truly understand how the various dice, heroes, and items interact. Building a strategy from this interaction is both challenging and rewarding.
While learning the basics is straightforward, discovering the nuances of the game—like mastering different heroes and understanding item synergies—offers a deeply stimulating experience. It’s a game that grows with you the more you play, providing endless replayability and variety.
At $8.99, the full experience is a bargain. You’re not only getting a premium, ad-free game but also supporting an indie developer who has delivered one of the best mobile RPGs available. If you’re a fan of roguelikes, RPGs, or just great games in general, Slice & Dice is an absolute must-have.
SO WELL DONE, just needs one more thing
Tue Apr 09 2024 artfoundrySo much love has obviously gone into this game. If you like dungeon delving/rogue-like games and dice rolling, definitely give this a shot! Even in demo mode it's awesome, but if you unlock everything, there are so many more possibilities!
It just needs one more mode though. A campaign! Would LOVE to see something that involves a story and a map of dungeons with a central town of quest givers and shop(s). Get a quest, go to a dungeon with maybe 5 fights to complete the quest and earn gold, then return to town to level up a couple heroes and buy an item or two from the shop(s), rinse and repeat. Make everything (quests, levels, items, etc) randomized each campaign, and you'd have a real winner!
Great
Tue Jan 07 2025 DavidSTvzPerfect phone game with actual strategic depth. It scratches the same itch as Slay the Spire without being at all a cloneI. The interface is well designed for both landscape and portrait orientation. Difficulty scaling is handled purely via the blessing and curse system (you choose a blessing at the start of your run on easy mode and one or more curses on harder modes). There are a variety of modes and items to unlock, but also a checkbox in the menu that just unlocks everything which is greatly appreciated since you can’t just mod phone games. Despite the variety of modes, I find the most fun in just going for win streaks on classic hard. Easily worth the minimal price. Get it!
