I normally despise 'party games.' They’re usually just excuses to be loud without any actual skill involved. But Spaceteam is different. It’s a pure test of communication under pressure. It’s stressful, it’s loud, and it’s brilliant. The genius is that your screen only has the controls, but someone else has the orders. It forces a level of cooperation that most 'co-op' games only dream of.
That said, it’s not something you can play alone, which limits its utility significantly. If you don't have a group of friends willing to look like idiots in a room together, this app is useless. Also, the connectivity can be a nightmare—trying to get four different phones to sync over a shaky Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection is often harder than flying the ship itself. It’s a 78 because when it works, it’s an experience like no other, but the technical hurdles and social requirements keep it from being a daily driver. It’s a specialized tool for specific occasions.
