Customer Reviews:
“This game is addictive. I have deleted it twice because I was getting eye strain but I keep re-installing it”
“I can’t put it down, and it’s been about a week…”
“Super addicting and just plain fun.”
My wife and I enjoy playing cards together, and the peer-to-peer function is absolutely fantastic. We have played a couple of other multiplayer card games but almost all have one problem or another. This game is one of our favorites! Definitely worth the five star rating. The game is addictive and insanely fun! This app makes the game easy to learn and the strategy side of the game always keeps it interesting. The name is appropriate - Play your cards with malice aforethought just to block a move your opponent has been planning for serval turns. If I had to list any cons about this game it would be simply to note that the game is still far too easy on the medium and hard levels. My wife notes that I am a far harder opponent then the computer.
This game is very addicting. However, after playing it multiple, multiple times, I realized that each of the four levels get harder with multiple playing. All the levels are challenging but the easy should stay easy. The medium should stay medium, etc., etc. I noticed that the cards dealt are NOT random. There is a definite pattern in the cards played. When you don’t win for a while, you get easy hands. And when you do win a few, all the sudden, your hands get so difficult, there is no way to win even if you are on easy mode. I can win more often on Spiteful mode in those instances. I would have have given a definite 5 stars if they started dealing the cards in a random mode. I feel they are dealing spitefully (pun intended). UPDATE: This past week, I have had to hard reboot my iPad Pro after every play or three. This is very annoying as I play in multiple player mode a lot. I get notifications every few minutes or so but when I go to play, the board is either frozen or it’s says to sign in to Game Center, which I can’t without doing a hard reboot to my system. I love playing but may have to quit if this is not fixed. I think it started after the latest update to my system, 11.4.1. Please fix.
UPDATE: nothing has changed. There still needs to be some sort of reward system because I end up getting bored and quit playing. And level “easy” is more difficult than the spiteful level. Makes no sense. so gooo! However, I can't tell the difference in the levels - Hard is no more difficult than Easy and Medium is WAY HARDER than Spiteful (in my experience). I have played Easy games more challenging than Spiteful. So it really doesn't matter which level you play because you never know what you're going to get difficulty wise. But I do enjoy playing despite the levels being out of wack. So if you're reading this, don't buy Spiteful, it's just more of the same. Oh yeah, YOU MUST add a rewards system instead of just gaining levels. If there's no incentive for level gain, then who gives a crap. I'd recommend earning new card/board designs or whatever...just something to tap into the brain's reward center. Without that, people will eventually lose interest.
I sent this message a few times. Just now it says I dont have/haven’t paid for this game. Yes I have. At least 3 years ago. Have never seen my review posted. Do you pick and choose negative reviews? It could be remedied by updating or just telling players the game can be very problematic for some. We wouldn’t expect anything for something we paid for. I sent the following several months ago and didn’t hear anything back so doubt I’ll see any response or improvement this time in a game I paid for. This really was a very fun card game. Grew up playing spite card game. It had been a 10 but I would give this game a zero now if I could. Have enjoyed it for the few years since downloading it. But all I can do now is start games playing with device, no friends. Can’t view them. No Turn-Based, Pass and Play or Peer to Peer anymore. Don’t waste your money. Is “Help” is the usual customer no service? Emails aren’t returned. Would love if it can be fixed and it’ll be a 5 star game again. If it crashes and you’re no longer able to play again, just say so.
My sister and I are in separate states and we enjoy playing this game together, but there are so many freeze-ups that it is hard to enjoy. The problem with that is each of us don't know if the other person has played, or if it is frozen. Very frustrating. I wrote the above review, and there have been "fixes" since then, and still...the game doesn't work properly. I LOVE this game and it gives my sister and I something to do together, BUT, we can deal with an occasional freeze-up, the real frustration is having to get out of the app, wait for a minute, then get back into the app to see if the other one has played yet. PLEASE FIX THIS. No other spite and malice app is as nicely set up as this one. PLEASE FIX IT.
I have played this game for a number of years. I love the challenge offered on all levels and have not noticed the difficulties noted listed in other recent reviews. Being very competitive, I have always been within the top 6 or 7th place in the “spiteful” level. I normally play on my iPad, but within the last three weeks I have been unable to build on my score or play online or turn based games due to some type of glitch in the game. I am hoping the problem can be fixed soon because other players are closing in on me. The problem has been noted as “known issues”in the contact section but would really appreciate an updated notice or a fix to the problem.
When playing with tangible cards the players have equal odds of winning. While playing this game online it is apparent that the cards are computer generated however the computer feels fit. Too many times I have played this game where I had zero diversity in the cards I was given. There is zero chance of winning the game when one is receiving the same three cards each turn. I counted my opponents Kings one day on his stack and out of 20 cards there were 11 kings. As for myself, I received somewhere between seven 9’s and four 6’s out of the draw pile. One does not possibly have a chance at winning the game when there are no apparent constraints embedded in the coding. I am not one that is a sore loser, I have a problem when the game is unfair. There should be something built into the algorithm where constraints are applied by coding the game to have two full decks. At least then the game will be fair for all players.
This is a fun game. I had never played Spite and Malice prior to downloading this app. Couple observations ... Sometimes the selected difficulty level makes no difference. At times , I can win more on Hard than I can on Easy mode. I have noticed a pattern to the card deals. It's not random and also not true to the game which is only played with two decks. I Play multiplayer a lot, and sometimes I will have 5-10s for instance in my pile, and my opponent may have another five. It doesn't add up. And, speaking of multiplayer.. SO BUGGY. Lots of freezes, notices that your opponent left the game and if you switch to another app momentarily to respond to a text for example, your game is toast. Last night I played approx 10 rounds with a friend, six of those ended due to freezes or pop up alerts saying your opponent left the game. Additionally, I cannot accept invitations to play. When I click them, nothing happens. Please fix the multiplayer/network issues and I'll update my review.
I hate to give 1 star to a game I’ve enjoyed playing for years (this game has given my 87 year old grandma something to look forward to each day), but I want to make sure this report reaches the devs (since I haven’t received any response to the message I left on the support site). As of the update last week, the turn-based multiplayer mode is no longer available. This removal doesn’t appear to be intended (not mentioned in the patch notes), and from other recent reviews I can see I’m not the only one who used this mode exclusively in order to play with friends/relatives one turn at a time throughout the day. I’ll change my review to 5 stars as soon as this bug is fixed (or if it is intended that the turn based multiplayer mode is no longer supported, please mention that in the patch notes so we know not to hold out hope, and I can give my grandma the bad news..)
This game is a ton of fun with family and friends requesting you to play and even single player. You will have fun trying to outwit and corrupt your opponents chances by blocking them from discarding the master pile with a wild king card or by making sure you don’t discard the card they will need to be able to play from that pile to clear to the finish. There in lies the justification for the games names. Just be careful to not go too fast when playing from the master discard pile. Sometimes I get too into clearing the discard pile and miss what should have been played first! It’s a fun game that will keep you busy waiting for your food or dr.’s office. Stimulates the brain while otherwise bored!
