Spy (the social deduction game) is a brilliant party game that only requires a single phone. It’s a game of social engineering and careful questioning. Everyone is given a location except for one person—the Spy. The tension of trying to figure out who the 'outsider' is while the Spy desperately tries to blend in by guessing the location is intoxicating.

The app version is superior to the physical card game because it handles all the secret distribution instantly and offers a massive variety of locations. It’s a great way to start a party or pass the time with friends. It rewards creativity and poker-faced lying, making it one of the best social experiences you can have on a mobile device.

Dinsun here. Spy (or Spyfall, as it's known in the board game world) is a solid social exercise. It relies entirely on the players being interesting. If your friends are boring, this game is a disaster. The app itself is just a tool to facilitate the game—it hands out roles and then gets out of the way.

I like that it doesn't try to overcomplicate things with digital bells and whistles. It’s a conservative, functional utility for a social gathering. However, as a 'video game,' it barely qualifies. It's a digital card deck. Useful, but not exactly a technical marvel.
