Our Site Score

93/100

Swordigo is a rare gem that captures the soul of 90s action-adventure games like Zelda II or Castlevania, but modernizes them for the touchscreen. The controls are the first thing you'll notice—they are some of the tightest, most responsive platforming controls on mobile. The jump physics feel just right, and the combat is simple but weighty.

The world design is the real highlight. It's a true 'Metroidvania' where you'll find areas you can't access until you return later with a new spell or ability. The boss fights are genuinely challenging and require you to learn patterns rather than just mashing buttons. It doesn't rely on in-app purchases or gimmicks; it's just a pure, high-quality adventure that everyone should play.

Dinsun Review

It’s easy to dismiss Swordigo because of its visuals. Let’s be blunt: the character models look like they were made in a weekend, and the textures are flat. But if you can look past the surface, this is one of the most cohesive and satisfying adventures on the App Store. It understands the 'Zelda' formula better than many big-budget attempts. The sense of discovery when you get a new spell and realize it opens up three different paths you saw an hour ago? That’s pure gaming bliss.

The controls are surprisingly tight for a mobile platformer. I usually hate virtual joysticks, but the button placement here is spot on. The combat is simple but requires timing and awareness of enemy patterns. It’s a complete, traditional game—no ads, no microtransaction fluff. It’s just you, your sword, and a big world to explore. It’s a bit short and the ending is predictable, but the journey itself is top-tier. It’s a reminder that good game design will always beat high-end graphics.
