This game deserves an award.
Wed Dec 07 2022 loudmacleodMy Museum was made with so much care. It is a real, full game that could easily be an indie PC game, not a copy-pasted cash grab like most mobile games. The art style is incredibly charming and there are so many little details that were completely unnecessary but add to the experience- I loved finding secrets such as dog and cat visitors. There is never any pressure to buy anything. You are able to earn and find more premium currency than you could possibly need. There is the occasional ad, but only rarely, and it is always skippable within 5 seconds. Today I am proud to say I achieved full completion (all fossils) after 67 hours of playtime! Mobile games with no achievable end frustrate me, as a completionist who would love to truly finish games before I move on to new ones. But this game has no updates, no limited time events, no DLC. It is a whole, complete work that never leverages time or currency against you. I do wish there was more of a tutorial, as I had to find many features (like rearranging the exhibits, one of my absolute favorite parts!) on my own, but that is the ONLY thing I can think of to complain about. I never even found a single bug, just a tiny bit of lag. It was truly one of the best mobile gaming experiences of my life. If there was an award for the highest quality mobile games, My Museum would be nominated in a heartbeat. Don’t wait any longer, get this game!
Phenomenal Game
Tue Jun 25 2019 Greystripe&SilverstreamThis game has earned all of its high star ratings. Really, it looks like it wouldn’t be very nuanced, but in my opinion, it is the ideal free game.
The game’s premise is simple. You dig for fossils, you put them in the museum, you get money to dig for more fossils. Toss in some upgrades here and there, and you are able to progress through the game. Typically, you’d expect for this process to require you to wait for hours for you museum to collect coins. However, you are able to actively play this game and have no need to wait for the next upgrade. This is something that shouldn’t be so rare, but this game allows you to catch up with the current content. It doesn’t put day long build timers like you’d expect it to, it lets you get right into the next part of the game, right away. Apart from the simple gameplay, it is just aesthetically pleasing. It doesn’t have a whole bunch of banner ads, it focuses on simple animations of the mining and museum, and even puts in an animation before a forced ad appears, allowing you to be prepared (I also noticed that the ads shifted from being primarily unskippable ads into either instant skip or 5 second skip ads, which was also a big plus).
If you’re looking for a game that is challenging, this isn’t the right choice, but I would still recommend this app because it is probably one of the best finds on the App Store I have had in years.
From 4 to 5
Tue Jun 28 2022 Werewolf BoyfriendI can’t remember if I had left a review or sent an email. Either way, I had said the game was a 4.5. It’s not like you have to hover in the app. It doesn’t have as many dark patterns. When I’m waiting for better upgrades I check in to get the offline rewards then come back, do upgrades and go hunt for fossils.
I had given the game a 4/5 because all of the skeletons were the same size. While velociraptor is still ‘too big’ I understand not only will most people not recognize real velociraptor was Coyote size and also some of the beautiful details would not really stand out of some of the models were smaller so I will let some of them go because I do understand from the technological side. That being said, now I guess since I have played (it was a very long time) I’m very impressed with some of the changes recent updates have brought out.
Very fun and fairly realistic at least for a mobile game. You rarely find a perfect complete skeleton and the general public would be frustrated by an incomplete fossil. What, is scientific discovery not exciting enough for you? Fairly fun game and there is great attention to detail, it works smoothly and the ads are not overwhelming. Developers and everyone who put work into this app really did good.
So far, so good, hopeful for an update!
Tue Sep 01 2020 SpaceGameLoverUPDATE: I’ve paid for the ad removal now because not only has the developer delivered on updating the app, but they’ve done more than I expected, adding not only new dinosaurs, but also expanding to non-dinosaur fossils. I hope there is more in store. I’ll buy a diamond pack with every future update. If you read these and are open to suggestions: Please consider adding crocodilians as a new clade, and add more options to the exhibit placement menu. Allow us to move the tiers up and down without having to remove and replace all of the stands.
Old review: Just finished the game, and I must say that I’m pleasantly surprised by this app. The ads are fair and your progress isn’t held back by any time unlocks or anything like that. I love paleontology and all things dinosaurs so this has become my new pass-time app when I’m in-between chores, errands and work. This app isn’t particularly educational, so don’t get it for that reason. I’m currently holding off on purchasing the “no-ads” option for a few reasons. Firstly, money is tight all around right now—thanks Corona Virus. Secondly, while the game has been very fun, I beat it in a fairly short time. That said, supposedly there is an update planned soon. If this actually happens, I’ll gladly support this app monetarily.
Fantastic Game
Sat Jun 22 2019 Goblincleaver01This game is great for if you want to play it every now and again, and if you want to play it and get to the end in a fairly short amount of time- i like that you can organize the dinosaurs as you please and also that you have differences in the sizes of each spot for dinosaurs. I would like of you could arrange each dinosaur to a location as you please so you could maybe have a Quetzalcoatlus at the entrance for example in place if where the second “medium stand” is. I also think the Ads are fantastic in the way they are used in the game. I believe it is balanced perfectly so you aren't gaining too much or too little from watching one. I think that maybe adding a way to change out a medium area for two smaller places, or a large for medium or two small spaces, etc., would be nice as well in order to, say, remove one dinosaur because you like another one more? Over all though, i love the game, and think it’s going great, and i can’t wait for further updates! (Also a personal little request I’d like to add, could you have a Suchomimus, and/or Allosaurus added in to the game in the following update please? They’re my two favorite dinosaurs!) Great work on the game!
Fun but Short
Fri Jan 03 2020 chasingsheepThis is a fun little game, with simple mechanics and without real obstacles to completion. You're not forced to wait hours upon hours for the next fossil to be available and your equipment can be easily upgraded, without spending real-world money. There are some forced ads, but there are also plenty of opportunities for perks by opting to watch one yourself. On the other hand, the game does feel a bit too easy at times. Accidentally leave your game open for a while and you'll gain enough money to plow through a good number of upgrades. Digging for fossils lacks finesse. By the time you've upgraded your pickaxe and number of taps, you can basically demolish the site without paying much attention.
Overall, the game is definitely enjoyable: I recommend it, but it does feel a bit empty. I personally wouldn't mind a slightly higher level of difficulty, some fossils other than dinosaurs, perhaps some information on the completed ones?, and something to do with the museum other than digging them up and rearranging things. Plus, I'm still not quite sure what the point of the bonus fossils is. That's the one thing I found more-or-less challenging, but when I finally completed one, the payoff was pretty underwhelming. I'm looking forward to future updates and seeing where they take the game!
Developers did amazing 😜
Sun Dec 13 2020 abood otSo I downloaded this game last week cuz I was bored. It’s so fun to search for fossils!! The dinosaurs look amazing with that pixely look, but not too pixely to make them look bad. The ads are perfect, you don’t get an ad after every time you dig. But you can voluntarily watch ads to get rewards. The prices are expensive, but not so expensive that you completely give up. This game inspired me to start making games of my own. I do have a few suggestions though. 1/ There are lots of dinosaurs that you can get, but you can’t display all of them. More rooms would be great! 2/ Gems are a bit too hard to get. Maybe if they were a bit more common in digs. 3/ I don’t know if you are working on this, but a Christmas event would be pretty cool. Like snowy dig sites, and the dinosaurs have Christmas decorations on them. It would be so funny! Also maybe a Halloween event, and more holidays. 4/ You see people walking around your museum, and then you spot six people that look the exact same. More people designs would be perfect. Anyways, those were all my thoughts on the game. This game is the best, hope it gets more amazing updates!!
Good chill game but not as varied as it could be
Sun Dec 26 2021 bavmotors1This game has really cute and smooth graphics, and a reasonable level progression. I also like the color lighting you can play with. Its great for three minutes at a time. You won’t be able to afford to dig for more that unless you check in just to collect the bag and trigger the bus a bunch of times. Which is fine - its an idle game i guess. *edit: except it doesn’t collect money when idle so its not really an idle game either.
What really makes the game a little dull is that in every dig the bones are always found in the same order. Torso, tail, head - with the skull/jaw always being the last one found. If you level up you can almost always find a bone during a dig - which is fine. Except you also find the same bone WAY too often. After the first few digs you will find only 1 of 2 new bones every turn. Put another way - for every skull you find you will find 8-10+ copies of each vertebrae and/or rib. Its kind if a drag because you can see the game literally throttling your progress. I get that the game has to do this, but its not hidden very well. The shuffling/selling/storing part of the game is not really clear. It seems easier to mess it up then make it better.
One of the Best Games I Own
Sun Jun 13 2021 SuperrnovaThis is such an amazing game. It is very simple and as a simple goal to go with it. It bypasses many of the most popular games in the AppStore. It isn't loaded with ads at every corner and it lets you set your own pace - no waiting for a timer to progress nor any rush to keep playing. Despite the games simplicity, it keeps interest with having a constant goal as opposed to other games where you collect points for nothing (I'm talking about the games from the constant ads you get on Instagram or other games that seem interesting but you get bored of in ten minutes). I've unlocked everything I can in this version of the game but it took me a good amount of time. I can't wait for the next update so I can keep playing my favorite game!
Edit: Now that there are four levels, I have one suggestion. It takes a long time to navigate the museum with only the arrows so a helpful feature that could be added would be a map of the museum where one can open the map and simply click on the room they want to go to. That would make navigating faster.
Can’t get enough...so, what’s next?
Sat May 14 2022 Mr. Some guyIt’s such a relief to get a new update after so long; I had gone over a month without any new material. Each new specimen I dig up adds more prestige to the museum (I can even forgive their not being to scale lol) and I can never wait to see what dig site opens up next.
Several years after my original review, I’m starting to look ahead to what might still be possible—after all, we’re limited to what’s inside our own planet, and the suspension of disbelief is beginning to crack with the strength of the dirt and rocks that we’re digging through. I mean, what’s left, lava dirt and rainbow crystal? So I thought; what if it’s time for a Tap! Dig! sequel that steps outside our boundaries?
Imagine, if you will, our intrepid curator and his steadfast assistant opening the last room of the museum and stumbling upon an odd portal. On the other side lies a vast multiversal nexus linked to its own array of digs and displays, but from a much wider variety of sources: mythology, literature, cryptology, even stuff you just made up on the fly. The possibilities are limitless!
