Dinsun Review
I’ll give credit where it's due: the art in Tales of Yokai is actually quite nice. It captures the spirit of traditional Japanese woodblock prints with a modern anime twist. But that’s where the praise ends. Once you get past the title screen, it’s just another idle RPG designed to slowly drain your wallet. The 'strategy' is non-existent; success is determined entirely by the level of your characters and the rarity of your gacha pulls.
I’m tired of games that play themselves. You set your team, you hit 'auto,' and you watch numbers pop up on the screen. There’s no agency, no skill, and no reason to be proud of a victory. The narrative is a paper-thin excuse to move you from one combat screen to the next. It’s predatory, repetitive, and ultimately boring. If you want to experience Yokai lore, go read a book or play Nioh. This is just a slot machine with a paint job.
