The Smart Hand Calculator is more of a digital novelty than a game, but it’s a very well-executed one. It uses gesture recognition to let you 'write' math problems on your screen, which it then solves in real-time. It’s surprisingly accurate, even with my messy handwriting.

While it’s listed in the game category, the 'fun' comes from the interactive puzzles that require you to solve equations to unlock the next level. Dinsun here. I’m not sure why this is listed as a 'game,' but as a piece of software, it’s a novelty that wears off in three minutes. The handwriting recognition is decent enough if you have the penmanship of a calligrapher, but for those of us with 'doctor handwriting,' it’s a constant battle of delete and redraw. In the time it takes to draw out a complex equation, I could have typed it into a standard TI-84 or even the default iOS calculator twice over.

It’s a neat tech demo, but as a daily driver for anything serious, it fails the efficiency test. There are no 'fun' elements here, no gamification of math—just a whiteboard that does sums. If you're looking for a productivity tool, there are better OCR-based math solvers that work from your camera. This is just a gimmick in search of a problem to solve.
