Dinsun here. I’ve never understood the appeal of watching a digital avatar do manual labor while I sit and watch. Wood Guy is an 'idle' game, which is shorthand for 'we didn't design enough interaction.' You tap a tree, you get wood, you buy a faster axe to get wood faster. It is the definition of a treadmill.
The graphics are hyper-casual—blobby characters and saturated colors that look like they were made in a weekend. There is no skill involved, just the patience to let the app run or the willingness to pay to skip the wait. I’ve seen this exact game with a different skin (mining, farming, fishing) dozens of times. It’s a cookie-cutter product that offers no satisfaction upon 'completion.' If you want to see wood get cut, go outside.
