Zaga 33 is a minimalist roguelike that proves you don't need complex graphics to create a deeply engaging strategy game. It’s played on a tiny grid, and every movement is a life-or-death decision. You have limited health and limited uses of your special abilities (like lasers or teleports), making every run a tense exercise in resource management.

The brilliance of Zaga 33 lies in its constraints. Because the levels are so small, the tactical possibilities are condensed. You have to anticipate enemy movements and use the environment to your advantage. It’s punishing, yes, but the runs are short enough that failure never feels like a waste of time. It’s a 'pure' gaming experience that fans of cerebral, turn-based challenges will absolutely adore.

Most mobile games try too hard to be console games and fail. Zaga-33 understands the platform. It's ugly, it's short, and it's absolutely ruthless. It’s a Brough game, which means every move is a life-or-death calculation. I respect a game that doesn't waste my time with tutorials or flashy cutscenes. You spawn, you move, you die. The strategy is deep despite the 8x8 grid. It’s a bit too minimalist for some, but for an old-school player who values mechanics over fluff, it’s a gem. My only gripe is that it can feel a bit too reliant on RNG in certain seeds.

unsurprisingly, in the process of fixing everything i also unfixed a couple of other things. those things are now also fixed.
(specifically: touch controls are now adjusted correctly when screens have a weird notch thing, and the menu buttons are no longer invisibly active in the game)
