Taking control of a tiny pixelated Shiba Inu trying to run a crepe stand is instantly endearing, and the game backs up its cute visuals with solid, engaging mechanics. Gathering ingredients, handing out flyers, and cooking treats creates a satisfying rhythm that keeps you coming back for just one more in-game day. The Apple Arcade version removing the original ad-driven progression makes the experience wonderfully smooth.

The progression loop of earning money to buy furniture for your dog or hire new, differently-breed canine assistants is highly motivating. If there is a drawback, it is that the gameplay can become somewhat repetitive in the late game once your truck is fully upgraded and your staff is self-sufficient. However, as a charming, low-stakes game to play in short bursts, Food Truck Pup+ is a heartwarming treat that is hard to put down.

Dinsun Review

I’ll admit, the dogs are cute. But as Dinsun, I’m here for the management, and Food Truck Pup is surprisingly competent at it. The cooking mini-games are simple but require good timing, and the progression of the truck and the staff is well-paced. It’s a very 'gentle' game, maybe a bit too gentle for my taste, but it’s relaxing in a way that isn't completely mindless.

The pixel art is high quality, but the 'cute' factor is turned up to eleven, which might be off-putting for some. It feels a bit like a glorified Tamagotchi with a crepe stand attached. It’s not something I’d play for hours, but for a 15-minute distraction, it’s a solid, conservative choice. It doesn't break new ground, but it does exactly what it promises.
