Begin by selecting a primary and supporting clan to access their unique cards. Your goal is to protect the pyre on the top floor of a four-floor train. Place units strategically on the first three floors to battle enemies moving upward. Choose your route on the map carefully to gain upgrades, new cards, or passive bonuses. Balance your deck by upgrading or duplicating cards to counter increasingly tough enemies. The Last Divinity DLC introduces the Wurmkin clan and Pact Shards, adding new strategic depth after completing Covenant level 1.
Monster Train combines roguelike deck-building with tower defense elements. Each run involves defending three vertical floors against waves of enemies aiming for your pyre. Pick from five clans, each with 10 levels to unlock new cards. Upgrade champions multiple times and mix card upgrades for unique strategies. Daily challenges with gameplay mutators and custom challenges let you tailor runs to your playstyle. Compete on leaderboards or share custom runs with friends. The game’s Wild Mutations and Friends & Foes updates add new cards, bosses, and artifacts for enhanced replayability.
The Last Divinity DLC is an expansion for Monster Train that introduces the Wurmkin clan, Pact Shards (a new currency with benefits and costs), and a new endboss, The Last Divinity. It’s available as an in-app purchase and unlocks after completing Covenant level 1.
