MySims™ Kingdom is the more adventurous sibling of the original MySims, and it’s wonderful to see it on Apple Arcade. While the first game was all about town management, Kingdom feels more like a lighthearted RPG. The 'Wandolier' mechanic gives you a clear sense of purpose, and the writing is genuinely funny—King Roland and his quirky knights are great fun to interact with. The transition to mobile has been handled with care; the touch controls for building are surprisingly precise, which was my biggest concern.
The game looks great, too. The updated textures and lighting breathe new life into these islands. It’s an 'easy' game in terms of difficulty, but the satisfaction comes from the creativity and the 'aha!' moments when you figure out how to build a specific contraption to solve a villager's problem. It’s a massive amount of content for a mobile game (over 3GB!), and it feels like a full console experience in your pocket. Perfect for anyone looking for a long-term project to sink their teeth into.
This is a bit better. Kingdom actually gives you a reason to build things beyond just filling a town. The puzzle elements involving gears and electricity add a layer of mechanical satisfaction that the first game lacked. Still, it’s clearly built for a younger audience, so don't expect 'The Witness' level of difficulty. The port is serviceable, though managing complex builds on a small screen is a nightmare. It’s a solid adventure game, but the 'Sims' branding feels more like a skin than a core philosophy here. I appreciate the effort, even if I'm not the primary target.
Performance: Heavier on the battery than the first MySims; some thermal throttling after an hour.
Buy if: You like light puzzle-solving combined with sandbox building.
Skip if: You have no patience for imprecise touch controls in building modes.
Available on: Mac, iPhone, iPad
