As an anime fan, I was skeptical about how a high-octane fighter like Ultimate Ninja STORM would translate to touchscreens, but NARUTO: Ultimate Ninja STORM+ is a revelation. Bandai Namco didn't just port the game; they rebuilt the interface to make it feel native. The 'Casual' control scheme is perfect for playing on a bus or a couch—it handles the complex movement while letting you focus on the spectacle of the ninjutsu.
The visuals are stunning. The cel-shaded graphics have aged incredibly well, and they look sharper than ever on a modern OLED screen. Exploring Konoha feels nostalgic and immersive, and the inclusion of all 27 characters from the original game's roster means there's a ton of variety in the Free Battle mode. The addition of auto-save and a retry feature for missions removes the 'clunk' of the original 2008 release. If you're an Apple Arcade subscriber and a fan of Naruto, this is an absolute must-play. It’s a premium console experience in the palm of your hand.
Now this is more like it. I remember when this originally came out on PS3—it was a visual powerhouse then, and it still looks great now. CyberConnect2 knows how to do spectacle. The combat is simple but flashy, which actually suits mobile play quite well. My issue? The touch controls. Arena fighters require spatial awareness that a flat glass screen just can't provide. If you have a controller, it's an 80/100 game. On touch? It’s a 70. It’s a bit expensive for a mobile port, but at least you’re getting a 'real' game with no gacha nonsense.
Performance: Requires a high-end device to maintain 60fps; significant battery drain.
Buy if: You are a Naruto fan who wants a high-quality fighting game on the go.
Skip if: You don't like anime or arena fighters with simplistic combat depth.
Available on: Mac, Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, iPod
