Cute but rough
Mon Apr 11 2022 PathetiqueThis is a cute idea—kind of like Neko Atsume but with farming and crafting! I wish it were a little more fully-featured (maybe it will get more engaging farther along). The biggest thing that bugs me here are the alerts—EVERYTHING new gets a big glaring alert/notification thing, even if it’s a cutscene you just watched (to clear it you have to go back and watch the video again) or a photo that you just took or a clothing item you just bought and already changed into. As someone who is a little compulsive it is driving me up a wall!
Speaking of the cutscenes… it would be nice if they were a little clearer and moved along more quickly (or at least had a fast forward). I just don’t feel like I’m learning that much about the story during them. Anyway, this game has a lot of potential, and I like playing it, but it can get pretty frustrating.
As others have said, some text would help. The tutorials are pretty bare too—like I’m not sure how to get the upgraded crops and it seems like they just appear at random. Would be cool if I could do something to work toward them.
Completely bored
Sun Aug 01 2021 LiloplayerI was excited for this game for all of three seconds. The graphics are nice, reminding me of a graphic novel. The story is a typical outcast feeling hurt and alone who finds kindness and starts to heal. The scenery is very nightmare-fantasy-fairytale, kind of like a Tim Burton movie.
After going through the tutorial and the first cutscene it becomes quickly obvious that this is a time waster in ever sense of the word. There’s nothing to do! You plant few crops, literally you can only do eight at a time, wait, harvest, exchange for items for the little animal companions to interact with, wait some more, collect what the animals drop only to exchange that for more things for the animals to play with. Sure, you collect hearts along the way to exchange for costume changes for the nameless avatar and background scenes but that’s it. It takes forever to even save up enough hearts for anything. There’s nothing else to do while you wait on the crops and animals to finish, no way to quickly unlock the next crop or animal or cut scene. No mini games to play while you wait. Not at all what I expect from an Apple Arcade game. It feels very much like a freemium game that would typically offer instant crop and animal collection for real money.
A complete disappointment.
Adorably Cute
Sat Sep 16 2023 anti-fishdomI got this because it looked like an easy cute game with spooky lil graphics and a simple plot to follow and that is exactly what i got. If you use your phone right before bed to get to sleep then this game is perfect for you. No time constraints or timed challenges, you move at your own pace and just watch your nightmare farm slowly grow.
The only problem I have been coming across is glitches or bugs, not sure. But sometimes when I open the app or even while I am playing I will come to the main screen and some of my animals are nowhere to be seen and the circles to place items have disappeared. Some of the items of permanently placed in the circles have disappeared as well. I tried refreshing the app and reopening it but it hasn't reset the problem or fixed it.
Lovely
Mon Sep 05 2022 SwBeanI think this is a lovely little game. A bit slow to start with the repetitive planting, harvesting, repeat…however once you begin to unlock items and characters it becomes more enjoyable. I love watching the little friends interact with the items you provide for them and it’s fun and exciting to discover new things! The music and the scenery are perfectly eclectic.. The storyline is engaging..The lack of tutorial (or any instructions at all) make it more interesting for me. It’s part of the fun to discover how different items interact with the environment and characters..Definitely not a game to sit down and play for hours..it’s a game that you periodically check in with throughout the day. It’s a wonderful little game that I’m thoroughly enjoying! I’ve yet to find anything quite like it on the App Store..Well done developers!!
Adorable, simple, lovely little game!
Mon Nov 18 2019 Actually__AmyI love this game. I just completed the storyline, (you pick one of two scenarios at the end) and I’m hoping to find a way to access the ending I didn’t choose!! Unlike other games of this type, nightmare farm has a storyline that gave me a good reason to keep playing. I think it’s important to have a game like this on the arcade — some people (like me) want a really simple farming game that they can come to throughout the day that doesn’t barrage them with ads or in-app purchases. It’s soothing, cute, and I think they achieved a really stellar effect with this game. I’m not sure why there are so many negative reviews. There were no bugs, it’s easy to navigate and use, and it improves upon the farm genre stereotypes. Just because you didn’t like it doesn’t mean it’s a poorly-made game. That’s the tea.
My progress is not saved at all in the save slot
Tue Jul 20 2021 Mini_17I’ve just download this game not too long ago maybe like 4 or 5 days ago and started playing it and I completed this first chapter which I believe is with the dog or whatever it is call (not to be rude or anything I just don’t know what’s it called) and so the next day I come back to play open the app and my slot was not there it just took me back to the tutorial I though oh maybe I didn’t hit the save slot so gave it another try and this time I got farther I got to the second one which is the one with the bear and then I stopped playing for 1 or 2 days because I got busy with my job. So I open it up today because I was egar to play and well what do you know hey tutorial I see you’re still here great✌🏾 I can not with this y’all really need to fix that issue
More questions along with constructive criticism would be good
Fri Sep 18 2020 hidnpathThe reason I say that is if there are complaints about the game then let’s ask questions and make it better instead of just complaining. I’ll go first… why do some people have access to some portions of the items that belong to the girl and how do you share things you don’t want and see all of your options ? How do you move forward and advance after you have purchased everything that’s available to purchase? Finally, there is an ability to scroll through items and see some of the things that you can’t get to yet……like different color coins, not just the red one. but how do you advance far enough to get to those advanced levels of the items you get initially?
Beautiful Narrative Story
Sun Sep 12 2021 basilkedWhile the lack of tutorials for certain achievements or items was a bit confusing at first, I found the game to be extremely relaxing. The farming was not overwhelming like other games that demand constant attention, and so I found it a fun game to check into every day. However, I think the gameplay has taken over centerstage, when the AMAZING story should be the main focus. I finished a bit ago and the way the story unfolded throughout each mission was beautiful. Even if the gameplay was actually difficult to understand, I think the story and animation definitely made up for it. I loved how unique it was and big applause to the developers for what they created!
A pointless clicker with no soul.
Sun Oct 06 2019 TheGreatestCapeYou have 8 spots on your farm, which you plant fruits in. You wait and harvest, and repeat. You can use the items you harvest to trade for hearts, which can be used to buy aesthetic dress-up stuff for your character, or you replant them and wait again for more fruits. You can also trade the fruits for another item, which you put in a spot for an animal to play with. After a while playing with the item, the animal will give you a different kind of item, which you can use to make a different item for the animal to play with. Sometimes there is a brief cutscene.
There’s very little text (I think the word “tutorial” was the only thing I saw); presumably that’s to cut down on development costs and allow this to be played in multiple languages. It feels like an extremely cheaply-made game.
There are other things to unlock, but they would require engaging in these monotonous, dull timer wait-outs for hours/days, and the basic gameplay loop is so rote and dull you’ll be bored within an hour. The art style is aiming for kind of creepy and fairytale-esque, but it just feels crude and childlike.
This feels like a shovelware freemium game; if it wasn’t on Apple Arcade, there would doubtless be a system where you pay real money for hearts to speed the process along. As it is, you just have to wait. This is probably the most dull, pointless showcase of Apple Arcade I’ve seen.
I love this game!
Sun Oct 20 2019 Dr Doomsday!!I LOVE this game. I think it’s stupid that all these jerks are saying it’s “not a real game” “pointless” or “cheap”. It’s not. Because some GENIUS on your team, one day thought, “Hey, what if we made a game about an adorable little girl whose life is torn up, who finds herself on a beautiful farm, who slowly but surely, heals and makes friends.”. It’s an amazing concept, and cute gameplay. It’s not hard, and it doesn’t have the thing where your crops’ll rot if you don’t harvest within like, two seconds of them being done growing. I think all the characters are cute, especially the little girl who I call Molly. I love the colors, and the art style. Great job on this game, playing it is like visiting a museum because this game is truly a work of art.
