Won’t let me play the game
Fri Mar 18 2022 hmmph 999777I just passed level 15 and I’m not able to move on to level 16. Whenever I finish level 15, I just get a gray screen that stays there and does nothing. So I tried exiting the app and going back in but it puts me at level 1 and won’t give me the option to go to 16. And when I go back to 15 and try to complete it again to get level 16 it won’t work and this process happens all over again. Overall the game has been really fun and I would like to keep playing if this problem is taken care of.
Decent game, too short.
Fri Jul 24 2020 antivax momThe game in itself was entertaining. Some people are talking about The detective going the long route, however I thought that this was interesting and it added more time and effort into the game and more tapping instead of just tapping exactly where you want to go. A level creator would be very entertaining, and add much more to the game. Also, an endless mode, where there would be randomly generated maps and objectives. Some kind of style or theme change would be cool, like being able to change the guard outfit and the detectives outfit, or the color theme because the theme was kind of dull and got boring after a few minutes.
These are just suggestions and I feel it would add way more to the game then their was already. I would not say that this is Apple Arcade worthy, but I do feel it could be if some things were added and changed. Definitely my type of game, I had a good short time playing this and was sad to see the ending screen.
Considering it’s made (mostly) by a 14yo, it’s “ok”
Mon Nov 11 2019 Lil PipsThis wasn’t a great 20 minutes. All you have to do, more or less, is tap to the spot you want to move to, and it still controls pretty badly. Your character will frequently take the long way to the spot, or the “right into guard’s eyes” path to spot (even if another path is available). There were gated screens, but I would frequently climb over non-existent spaces several spaces away from those screens. There is an achievement for beating the game, which I did not unlock after beating the game. I’m not really going to try for the two much more difficult achievements if even this simple one is broken.
I feel like whomever green lit this for Arcade did so mainly because “a game made by a 14yo” is a selling and/or bullet point.
Fixed camera spoils it for me
Mon Jan 06 2020 HagcrcusnvkgThis is a 3D game so it puzzles me why they won’t let me turn the room around and zoom into or out of different areas.
Sometimes it’s really hard to tap or to see the areas I need to see because the developers fixed the camera in a position that makes necessary details really small on the screen (iPhone 8 here).
The basic game mechanics are fun but it’s kind of spoiled by being difficult for the wrong reasons, as in, tapping on the right tiny square is harder than the actual stealth puzzles.
Fun but…
Fri Dec 24 2021 hooktrunkI really enjoyed this game. It felt incomplete and the ending was anti-climatic. There’s no way to reset the game.I was able to solve all without seeing a walk through.
I did notice 2 bugs. Upon starting up it bombed if I didn’t t wait for the intro music to start up and play a few seconds. Also the character disappeared completely in the final scene of level 14 while going down the short flight of steps. I wish there were more levels. Please complete this game!
Much Improvement needed.
Mon Oct 10 2022 ball_sucker42069OPERATOR 41 is a very nice looking game but has downsides. Let’s talk about the good things about the game first. The graphics in OPERATOR 41 is reminiscent of PlayStation 1 games, and gives of a sort of vintage feel during gameplay. The game is also very unique and entertaining, but doesn’t have much of a story which I thought it would have.
Now let’s talk about the bad things of the game.
OPERATOR 41 contains many bugs in it. For example: If you are moving quickly and try to climb, there is so animation for it. Another bug is that when you have the app running in the back round, it will stop working when you open it again.
Overall OPERATOR 41 is a very unique game, but has many bugs and problems.
Buggy and lacks depth
Fri Oct 25 2019 ecookYes, it’s impressive a 14 year old wrote this - something the individual responding to the reviews seems to insist on reminding everyone of. Though the claim they did this “all by themselves” strains credulity. Regardless, the “game” is plainly lacking.
The controls are often unresponsive, unreliable and inaccurate. For example, not knowing whether you were going to walk or throw the plant made each level an exercise in frustration.
The levels are shallow and boring - there are a dozen “turn based” games such as this that execute on this concept well.
I debated whether to write a critical review, but in the end, are we reviewing the game or the narrative of how it was produced? This game, regardless of its provenance, is not in itself worth downloading. At the very least, the bugs and control issues need to be attended to. I’m hoping I can update this review to be 5 *s in the future, because I do want it and the author to be successful.
Good Game but...
Tue Oct 15 2019 Cbeverly2010I actually enjoyed this game. You must think about it for a few min or attempt several retries to complete some levels (Not all are easy with completion on first try unless you’ve seen video on it already)
The reason I only ranked it 4 stars is because it’s literally a short game. You can easily complete the whole game within 25-35 min (without failing levels)
Please update and add more levels!
Great potential
Sun Dec 29 2019 GUCCIGAMEREVIEWI love stealth games so I was really excited to see an Apple Arcade stealth game. It’s pretty fun but sometimes the game feels broken or just too unpolished. I think the phones location is sometimes unclear and its especially hard to find since the camera is fixed. I also think there is way too long of a delay when you throw pots. It just feels really slow. That aside tho this is still a game worth trying out.
Great start for a game!
Thu Oct 03 2019 Dusti85Given that this game was written by a 14 year old, and in a very short period of time, I’m quite impressed! I finished the game a few days after I downloaded it, and just read an article detailing how it came to be. Great work young man, I look forward to more levels and changes you make to the game!
