Sid Meier’s Civilization VII Arcade Edition brings the full-scale 4X strategy experience to iPhone, iPad, and Mac. In this latest chapter of the iconic franchise, history is divided into three distinct Ages: Antiquity, Exploration, and Modern. Your strategic decisions determine your cultural lineage; at the start of each Age, you can choose a new civilization to represent your empire based on your prior accomplishments. For the first time, leaders are uncoupled from civilizations, allowing you to mix and match unique abilities to find the perfect playstyle. The Arcade Edition is the authentic base game experience, featuring a redesigned UI for mobile, intuitive touch controls, and high-fidelity visuals. It includes all balance updates up to Version 1.2.5, though it is focused on single-player play and does not include the paid DLC found on other platforms.
As you approach the end of an Age, you will face a 'Crisis' that forces you to adopt negative policies to balance the world stage. Use this time to secure 'Legacy Points' by completing era-specific milestones. These points are vital, as they determine which powerful Civilizations you can evolve into for the next Age. For example, owning three Horse resources in the Antiquity Age as Rome can unlock the option to transition into Mongolia during the Exploration Age.
Civilization VII introduces 'Settlements,' which start as Towns. Towns convert all Production into Gold and cannot build units, but they can be upgraded into full Cities once you have the necessary population and resources. Additionally, manage the new 'Influence' yield carefully; it is the primary currency for diplomacy and is essential for conducting 'tug-of-war' diplomatic actions with rival leaders like Augustus or Confucius.
At launch, Civilization VII Arcade Edition is single-player only. However, the developers have stated that multiplayer support for Apple Arcade players is planned for a future update.
