SpongeBob: Patty Pursuit 2 is a textbook example of how to do a sequel right. It takes the solid platforming foundation of the first game and expands on it with the 'buddy' mechanic. Playing as Plankton alongside SpongeBob adds a fresh layer of puzzle-solving that keeps the levels from feeling repetitive. The visuals are a massive step up, looking almost like an interactive episode of the cartoon.
What’s most impressive is the level design. It manages to be accessible for kids while offering enough hidden depth and 'perfect run' challenges to satisfy platforming veterans. The boss fights are creative and much more varied than in the predecessor. If you’re a fan of the show or just enjoy high-quality side-scrollers, this is a must-play. It captures the humor and heart of Bikini Bottom perfectly.
I’m probably thirty years outside the target demographic here, but a good platformer is a good platformer regardless of the yellow sponge on the cover. Patty Pursuit 2 is... fine. It’s safe. The controls are responsive enough for a mobile title, and the art style perfectly captures the cartoon. But as a seasoned gamer, I find the level design repetitive. It’s a lot of 'hold right and jump occasionally.'
The guest character mechanics add a sliver of strategy, but it’s mostly window dressing. It’s the kind of game you give to a kid to keep them quiet for an hour. There’s nothing fundamentally broken here, but there’s also nothing that Rayman or Mario hasn't done better ten years ago. It’s a commercial product through and through.
Performance: Very smooth; high production values in the cutscenes.

Bosses often have pattern-based attacks. Wait for them to exhaust their move-set, usually indicated by a brief dizzy animation, before dealing damage.
