I'll admit, I was skeptical about a Subway Surfers game that wasn't an endless runner, but Subway Surfers Tag actually works quite well. It feels like a 'My First Tony Hawk' game—very accessible, very colorful, and centered on the joy of movement. The arenas are cleverly designed with plenty of shortcuts and hidden tag spots that encourage you to explore every inch of the map.
The Guard is much more of a threat here since he can chase you in 360 degrees, which adds a nice layer of tension that the original game sometimes lacked once you got into a rhythm. While it might feel a bit simple for hardcore skating fans, for the target audience of casual gamers and Subway Surfers veterans, it's a fantastic expansion of the brand. It’s snappy, looks great, and is perfect for short bursts of play.
Dinsun here. I never cared for the original Subway Surfers—it felt like a game for people who wanted to play with their eyes closed. Tag is an attempt to actually add gameplay. It’s an arena-based trick skater, and to its credit, it looks great. The vibrant colors and character animations are top-tier for mobile. The grind and wall-run mechanics are intuitive enough for a touchscreen.
But it’s shallow. The missions are repetitive—'collect 10 cans,' 'grind for 50 meters'—and the AI of the Guard is more annoying than challenging. It feels like a game stuck between being a casual time-waster and a real action game, and it fails to satisfy either camp fully. It’s better than the original, sure, but it’s still just a distraction. It lacks the soul and mechanical depth of a true skating game. It's fine for a few minutes, but it doesn't hold up for long sessions.
Performance: Very polished; runs at a stable framerate even during busy arena segments.
Buy if: You like the Subway Surfers universe and want a very casual arena-based action game.
Skip if: You are looking for a deep skating simulator or complex mechanics.
Available on: Mac, Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, iPod

Thank you for updating!
Subway Surfers Tag takes the characters and style of the legendary endless runner and places them into open, multi-level arenas. Instead of running forever in one direction, players must navigate zones like the Rail Yard and the Docks, tagging objects and collecting combos while avoiding the Guard and his robotic cleaners. The gameplay emphasizes verticality and momentum, allowing players to perform tricks and grinds to reach high-score areas. With a focus on missions and character progression, it offers a fresh take on the Subway Surfers universe.
