Unpacking+ is nothing short of a masterpiece in subtle storytelling. It manages to evoke a profound emotional connection with a protagonist you never actually see, simply by letting you handle their most personal belongings. The transition from a childhood bedroom to a cramped college dorm, and eventually to a shared home, feels earned and deeply relatable.
From a mechanical standpoint, the 'zen' label is perfectly applied. There is a primal satisfaction in finding the perfect spot for a row of books or neatly stacking plates in a cupboard. The sound design is equally impressive—the distinct 'thud' or 'clink' of every object varies depending on the surface you place it on, adding a layer of immersion that many mobile games overlook. It’s a short experience, but one that lingers in your mind long after the final box is empty.
I didn’t expect to like this. I’m a 40-year-old man; I’ve moved enough houses in real life to know it’s a nightmare. But 'Unpacking' turns it into something beautiful. The storytelling is entirely silent—you learn about the protagonist’s relationships, failures, and growth just by where you put their socks and books. It’s brilliant. The pixel art is detailed, and the sound of every object hitting a surface is unique. It’s short, and the puzzle elements are very light, but it’s one of the most memorable games I’ve played in years. Highly recommended.
Performance: Great port; touch interface feels natural for dragging items.

Experience the beautiful, silent narrative of Unpacking+. In this full walkthrough, we follow the protagonist through two decades of life—through the highs of moving in with friends to the emotional changes reflected in their belongings.
Unpacking+ is the premium version of the critically acclaimed zen puzzle game Unpacking, available through the Apple Arcade service. It combines domestic organization with "environmental storytelling," allowing you to learn about a character's life simply by handling their possessions. Core Gameplay Mechanics The game is split into various stages, each representing a different year and a new living space (ranging from a childhood bedroom to a first apartment and beyond). The Loop: You open boxes and find a place for every item within the room. The Puzzle: While much of the placement is freeform, certain items have "correct" logical homes. If an item is in an invalid spot (like a toaster on a bed), it will glow red, and you must move it to progress. No Pressure: There are no timers, scores, or fail states. The focus is entirely on the tactile satisfaction of organizing.
