Astrocat Adventures is a total delight. It takes the classic platformer and adds a literal twist with its gravity-based movement. Controlling a cat with a jetpack is as fun as it sounds, and the physics-based puzzles are clever without being frustrating. The game feels 'floaty' in the best way possible, capturing that zero-G sensation perfectly.
The art style is incredibly cute, but don't let that fool youโsome of the later planetary levels require some serious precision. Collecting the cosmic yarn is a great motivator to explore every nook and cranny of the beautiful space environments. Itโs a polished, joyful experience that stands out in a crowded genre. If you love cats and space exploration, this is an easy recommendation.
Iโll give it credit for not being another gacha mess, but AstroCat Adventures is clearly aimed at a demographic that hasn't seen much of the world yet. The 'randomized levels' feel like they were built with a handful of prefab blocks that start repeating after the first hour. The shooting is competent, but thereโs no weight to the combatโitโs very much 'My First Shooter' in terms of feedback and impact.
The controls are actually better than I expected for a mobile 3D platformer, though the camera can still get caught in the geometry occasionally. Itโs a clean game with bright colors, but it lacks the grit or mechanical depth I usually look for. My nephew would love this, but for a seasoned gamer, itโs a one-and-done experience that feels like itโs lacking a definitive identity beyond 'Cat in Space.'
